Mobile bases in the form of caravans and boats, with prefabs

I’m not really into base building, but I will do it in order to get access to the various machines I need to progress in game. As a result this is a low point of the game for me. I favor the nomadic playstyle and would find the game much more enjoyable if I had an option to pack up and unpack my base wherever I wanted provided there is enough room to do so.

the addition of simple prefab buildings and structures would also help a lot.

It could work like this:

An area is highlighted where in the position and orientation of any machine you place will be stored. when you pack up your base it all gets put into storage in the inventory of a bunch of pets possibly pulling carts. the caravan option makes it so that all your pets can be moved as a unit you can make it so they cant attack in this mode or something to balance it out. When you travel to a new location and initiate the unpack the highlighted area reappears and you can move it around to avoid overlap and collisions with the terrain and then it re places everything.

Also a boat with sufficient deck space to put machines on it would be nice. a floating movable foundation-raft-thing with a mast, sail and a rudder would suffice.

Since this a game has magic / advanced ancient technology, maybe introduce levitating building pieces, for flying bases or floating structures which can be moved. flying boat bases anyone?

Please consider my suggestion FUNCOM.

I’ve been thinking about this some more. the point of this suggestion was to promote a nomadic playstyle so lets talk about adding some nomadic stuff to the game.

  1. Wagons: I’m thinking large covered wagon with inventory slots which allow you to install mini versions of existing machines maybe 4 to 6 and the drawback being it takes twice as long to craft stuff. you can access the particular machine by interacting with the wagon on the side the machine is installed on. the wagon can be drawn by a capable pet. and have storage for your stuff also. you’ll need a base to advance to a point where you can tame a pet and build the wagon and machines but after that you could switch to full nomad. also allow wagons to be linked together to form trains of 2 - 3 or make wagons of different sizes which hold more machine slots but require more pets to pull it. could have thralls specialized to drive the wagon and give buffs to the installed machines. big machines like wheels or pain and alters can’t be scaled down and will not be able to slot into a wagon, but that’s ok.

  2. Boats: Wagons that float. we’re gonna need some water pets to pull your floating wagons (maybe crocodiles) and to defend it against water dwelling threats. on a side note, Its weird how crocodiles in the game can’t swim yet its the main thing they are known for i.e. hiding in the water till prey comes close, grab them and pull them in to drown them. they are IRL water dwelling threats, if you approach them while on land they dart into the water then turn and fight.

  3. Mics items: we gonna need small - medium tents with doors(x), camp fires(), bed rolls(), drying racks(*), fishing rods and harpoons(x), and a trading mechanic cause nomads are poor though well traveled. maybe add the ability to trade knowledge gained from discoveries.

How about needing 4 horses per each wagon as a draw back. Wagons should have a max encumbrance of 600. Wagons were use to carry heavy loads. Players can only drive wagons. Wagons have locks on them.

Wagons should also allow for 4 players to ride. This allows for protection to the wagon.

The closer max encumbrance the slower you go.

I like this…maybe each wagon is a 2X4 platform that you can put placeables and build on and walls and ceiling placement. 1-4 horses to be used for speed. 1 for over-encumbered walking speed while 4 can give you gallop effect.

I was thinking that a clan could have multiple of these wagons and the clan members would be escorting the wagon on their own mounts or on foot. or for single player your fighter thralls could be set to guard the wagon as its moving. hopefully FUNCOM adds mounts for thralls. in any case I don’t think we need to add seats for players to ride along for protection, not bashing the idea though. Your other balance suggestions are cool, didn’t even cross my mind to have 4 horse power wagons!

Due to your suggestion, I’m envisioning some Frankenstein wagon builds towering 5 stories high with spikes and stuff shooting off it. with archer nests lol, ever seen that movie ‘Mortal Engines’?

like piranha, sword fish, barracuda, sharks, sea snakes, crocodiles, hippopotamus. a pet eagle or vulture would be nice

OMG! It could be used as siege engines to scale walls and anticlimb! This is sounding more awesome.
