Mobile Water Bases

Hello Developers

In my adventures in your game I witnessed many beautiful ship made bases.

What if the game could give the ability to players in the future to build boats, rafts and ships that function as mobile water bases to move them on water at siptah and exile lands ?

Cool, then you could fall through your ships floor instead of foundations an drown

You know there was a time (repeated times) you would sink into a foundation and die from falling damage before you even logged in ?

I can see a set of problems in allowing people have boats in CE, while I myself have a mod to that exact end.

I dont really care about console players, PvPers and not much to server players as to worry how any of my mods impact them. But I can see a number of reasons Funcom, which should worry about them, would need a ton of work to make them so they would not bother those players.

As it is, server game is already bonkers. You dont need another “lag ass placeable” to add to the confusion. Also, boats would make the life of PvPers that much harder, specially in Siptah.

Boats would mean you can transport as large quantity of things to distant places easily. While the fast travel has their limits, both the stone and the obelisks have limitations, a boat would not. So it would, like in IRL, tip the scales whomever got them built first in a server.

I have an old development I made for a caravan, a form of fast travel that you can go from a base to another taking a certain number of characters as form of fast travel. We played with it in a server among friends and it was fun, but that would not be fun it the game offered any form of “mass transportation” unhinged. It would enforce a power play of people who have longer time in a server more than it already does.

It is one thing when you know someone can travel with at most one or two followers from places they have buildings, at a cost, or through the obelisks which you know where they are. But having a mass transport that you can reach even if “only where there is water”, would really be (to me) a funny couple months reading the forums.

You could have just said you have a mod that might fit the request.

While you make some good points about developmental, service and gameplay impact it is overshadowed by your insults and misunderstanding of the game.

Specifically that you can transport an entire body of loot in an instant legitimately through sorcery by 2 different means.

Imagine if you accepted there’s more than just your narrow views? Might actually entice players to try your mods.

I already do that as I build ships and ports over water. It’s how I lost all my stuff a couple times this past chapter. That’s nothing new.

Terrible idea. On Exiled Lands, you’d be relegated to living on noob river or on the far edge of the map, and on siptah your base would canonically be ripped apart every hour. Massive waste of development resources for a mechanic that’s 99% useless

Was about to say the same thing.
There isn’t enough water to be beneficial, even on siptah.
To have boats implemented in a meaningful way, we would need a map with multiple islands and land masses with big rivers (like boob river).
The map would need a structure like the skellige Islands in the witcher 3 or something like that.
On EL there is only boob river, and on siptah there is only the tiny bit of water surrounding the island, which is ONE huge land mass.

That we get swimming enemies is more likely…

(Did he say and knew everyone will have a good laugh at that statement)… :joy:
