Mobs and NPC’s respawn as soon as I move a certain distance away(a bit out of visual range). This happens often when I start a fresh game. Adjusting Mob spawn rate slider has no effect. Reinstalling CE doesn’t help, either. Running with mods or straight vanilla the same issue occurs. Affects release and Beta branches.
Eventually, after repeated restarts, I manage to get a land instance that behaves correctly - normal spawn rates and the spawn rate slider has expected result.
Atm, I am trying to get a clean land start in the latest Beta and been about 8 fresh starts to no avail.
The instant respawn is likely because you are playing single player instead of on a dedicated server. In single player, your computer is the server and because you are the only player, it saves resources by only spawning and running calculations for the area you are currently playing, ignoring the rest of the map. This is not a bug, and as you rightly pointed out, it is the same on Live as it is in the Beta. If this behavior bothers you, you can play on a dedicated server instead.
Understood, and I often make a private dedicated server on another PC and would explain why that works ok, but I cannot do that for Beta as I am not aware of any installable private Beta server.
