could the meteor shower kill us? . it will be funny
It does by default
Meteors do area damage around them when they land (the center does 10 times more and is an insta-kill for everything pretty much, even T3 building pieces)
This mod doesn’t mess with any of that though, what it does is very simplistic… just checks every 20 seconds if there are at least 5 meteors on the map, if there aren’t then it bumps up the chance for them to fall and if you’re in the area you’ll pretty much see them fall in less than a minute.
If there are more than 5 thou then the default basegame chance and timer are still in effect, so this doesn’t mess with those either, pretty much just ensures that there’s always at least 5 nodes somewhere.

This is great, and honestly a change I’d like to see in the base game.
The star metal meteor shower gimmick has run its course. Its insanely boring and rather frustrating to pop in up north, run the circuit only to find absolutely nothing. I’d even be on board with a small collection of it that has a set respawn timer. Maybe a larger meteor impact site that when broken reveals like 3 nodes.
Star metal is far more plentiful on Siptah and I haven’t seen anyone complaining about that.
That was kinda the idea here, to make sure there’s always some star metal especially for single player cuz people had to install stuff like Pippi or use the speed change command either of which is overkill if they just want some star metal
But I realized this will also be good for very high population servers cuz it keeps trying to ensure there’s at least 5 nodes up so if a large number of people are constantly farming them it will kick in and try to ensure it’s being resupplied.
Actually, there is no need for pippi to spawn meteors. If people want to force spawn them on pc,” datacmd meteor spawn” will do the trick but its a manual spawn. So your mod will be handy for people not wanting to have to deal with it constantly for sure, but anyone hard up on a private they admin or single player can just spawn it.
Interestingly, if you put more meteor spawners on the map, they get indexed so its datacmd meteor spawn 2 and so on.

Hmm well what some of them typically do instead of saying any of that is barge in all entitled and demand that the mods be customized according to their wishes else they brand them as “useless / pointless”

Why can’t I choose the color of the smoke rising from the meteors spawned by your mod? This is a pointless mod!
On a more serious note: my needs for star metal on Single-Player are pretty limited, so I don’t usually need many meteor showers in my life, but it sounds really helpful that I don’t need to wander aimlessly for hours around the frozen ridge the first time I need some star metal in a new playthrough.

Yea, the good part about this is that it won’t spam your game with endless meteor shower, it just makes sure that there is some and if there are 5 somewhere on the map then it won’t do anything at all.
Oh btw! A couple of days ago I did make a discord server for my mods. All my stuff is there in one place, including the spreadsheets and stuff

Oh please-spare us- every server i login there are at least one or two available every day. More so in single player since theres no competion. Thats goes for Siptah and EL.

Here’s how it works by default:
Based on these rules the issue is that it’s quite luck based…
It you miss the first one in single player then that means you have to idle there for a whole hour till you get a second chance, which for players in SP often times seems like it’s “bugged” or not working as intended at least, especially if they are casual players and have limited game time.
The same issue is present on a high pop server… if after the server restart the meteors fall and someone is actually quick and farms them… the chance gets set to 0% so it’s highly probably that it will miss several periodic checks that could add up to several hours even though the server is constantly running unlike single player.
I personally didn’t have issues, one time I had to wait for like 1.5 hours on my dedicated server but that was the worst… all other times I got them within half an hour, however since it’s RNG based I can imagine people getting frustrated over it. That’s why I made this, cuz I kept seeing the “can’t find star metal in SP” posts :)))))

Yeah, the default logic isn’t very SP-friendly. As far as I can tell, meteors aren’t persisted in the game database, so they’ll be wiped off the map when the server restarts. And every time you go into SP game, it’s a brand new server restart, so you have to wait 30 minutes just to have a 75% chance to get a meteor shower…
