Multiple Save Files?

Started out writing a solution for how to do this on the PS4 and realized you’re not looking for a fix, you’re wondering whether it’s do-able. As others have said, and as @Mikey proves, the PC is more than ready for multiple characters. Consoles are a little gooey.

Right now, we can back up our saves to a USB drive, and with Plus Membership, to Cloud Saves. This allows me to play the same toon on the PS4 in my home office and the living room. By default though, with no add-on Plus – and simply a USB drive – it can be demonstrated that multiple toons can be created, deleted, reloaded and updated manually. Therefore it’s do-able.

If I wrote apps for the PS4 I could automate this, and potentially sell it for users to enjoy. I don’t know that I could make my money back on this one game alone. In this way, I believe we could project/predict the Development outcome in this scenario for Conan Exiles: they gain Solo players via replays and in exchange they need to output a change to the Main Menu, invent some form of character select UI which masks the internal procedure of (backup char1, load char2 else delete char1 etc) so that we could seamlessly load other toons.

When I want more characters on other games, however, I usually do this: get another ID at PlayStation Network and log in on my Main Console. I haven’t tried it with CE, but for every other PS4/PS3 title I play, this starts a whole new game with a brand-new world and character.

I didnt realise that you were a ps4 player too Barnes. Cool.

Unfortunately I cant do the PS plus and Cloud save maethod, as I am not on PS plus. So if I were to simply copy the save data with my lvl 60 character to a USB (without Plus), then delete it, and re-install that lvl 60 character save file at a latter date, would the ps4 still recognise it as being mine originally (without Plus)? Or would it think that I am just trying to use some other guys save file?

This may be the best solution for myself at this point in time, depending on your answer to the above questions. Also, sorry if Im not comprehending what you are saying too Barnes; Im not very good with technology.

Yes, I am one of those rare crossovers who loves each machine on its own merits. For years I was resolute in avoiding wasting precious PC assets, then Conan Exiles came along and whattaya know I’m on Steam…

If you are not just being modest about your acumen I will honestly always err on the side of safety. Because you do not have another PS4 at hand, and since you do not have Plus to fall back on I would not ever recommend deleting a character unless you wish to shred him/her permanently.

The best route in your instance is to create a new PlayStation ID, or several, in my opinion. This is exactly what I do with GTA when I’m feeling too rich for myself and need a fresh start. Once I have patched my office PS4 I’ll try it out on some alts, but I suspect you’ll try it first.

This last piece may sound overly complicated, but before I create an alt at Sony I always make a legit email address at one of the major freemail providers. This keeps unwanted correspondence at a minimum and privacy at max. As you can tell I’m an enthusiast about starting over, so I hope you share what you find as a “new” player.

Fogive the late reply Barnes, this one slipped the net on me.

Yeah myself also. I never really understood the ‘ah…my gaming machine is better than everyone elses, yadda, yadda’ mentality. Its just anothet red team/blue team, in group/out group mentality. I mean we wouldnt mock or insult others because of the car they drive, so why do it with their gaming machine. Like yourself I like each based on its merits, and will play and enjoy almost any game on any system.

Unfortunately I am indeed being truthful about it, and for the record, I did decide to adopt the safer, more cautious approach for this one as you suggested. The risk of losing all of my current hard work is just too great in this instance. So in the end I just took the path of least resistance, and created a seperate (but also temporary) user profile. Although I wont be able to keep it in the long run.

Yeah its fun to start out at ones beginnings again. At the good times, when a simple Hyena or two provided a challenge.

Thanks for the assistance Barnes.

If you’re on PC there is no problem doing that. Consoles i don’t know about.
Simply google it. There is a software to make that. You should easily find the tuto on Y-T to. I use it since EA for my singleplayer-games. I test lot, so i like be able to swap between different saves, and characters.
You can ever add a second toon to your current game, add it to a clan, and more.

Funny you should say that. The first time I was ever part of a clan, one of the players instantly disliked me due to the car I drive. It’s a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition, which I guess can be fairly polarizing?

As for the solution, I have three different PS4 Alts by now, and they all play under my master (per console) Plus Account. Great for demonstration purposes, I’m very glad we worked on this together!

Alot of posts to read… so I’ll just throw this on to pile for Ps4 users.

You can make extra Ps4 accounts (do not sign up for psn) and all DLC on main account is shared with no limits. (you can’t go online, but you can swap ps4 account with ease and play across several saves with no usb or cloud madness.

I do this With MGSV, Dragons Dogma and Conan Exiles.
