@erjoh
I can see the huge, but nothing clever, nothing clever, empty head actually that leads even the filed one. The story of our life.

PvP players all acquiesce to the PvE stuff when the fighting is slim.
Yup, as I’ve said a few times already - maybe even in this very thread, there’s soooo not much difference between the players types - there is absolutely no grounds for one to claim the other is clueless in any way. I heard this for the 1st time on these forums about 6 months ago so as a PVE player on about 5 servers I joined about 5 PVP servers and wanna know the main differences between the two? The player names - I didn’t see any of the same names from my PVE servers. LOL
But all seriousness aside, a well practiced PVE player will use the same armor, weapons, and tactics fighting NPCs and bosses as a PVP player uses fighting other players. So that’s all as identical and varied on PVP servers as it is on PVE ones.
Base building is also identical. Although they’re not put to the test I see plenty of hidden bases and strongbox builds on PVE servers. I also see some really pretty bases on PVP servers. The difference being the mindset. A PVE player building like that is either doing it out of habit or because they want to run the most difficult purges like a sim as an observer. The PVPer building beautiful bases like a PVEer isn’t usually at emotionally attached to their creations as PVE players are - because, you know: RP. The numbers of each are weighted appropriately given the server types - but other than that…
There are a few mechanisms actually used by PVP players that PVE folks don’t use but this doesn’t affect any other subject besides those specific things. Those being bombs, trebs, gods, and bubbles. Every other topic translates 1:1 from PVE to PVP and from PVP to PVE.
As this thread is about a crack in most other building sets that doesn’t exist in the Nemedian set - yet is also avoidable in all other sets, and given the fact that the two playstyles (PVE and PVP) are nearly identical) I can’t understand the silliness of arguments to the contrary here a hundred and forty posts later. Oh well, probably just my inability to understand aye?
So I had this huge clever post written, with quotes from CodeMage and Barnes, and a bit about agreeing to disagree. But I don’t feel like it would have achieved anything.
Don’t sell yourself short. Well thought out posts, written in good faith, can eventually change opinions.
For example, @Barnes, @Raskhaul, erjoh, and AxeIsAnnoying wrote replies that helped me see what @anon83039162 was trying to say all this time: it’s really not about the modes being different, it’s about our own experiences and preferences.
Based on all the talk on these forums about foundation stacking and claim spam webs and putting fences on every inch of the walls and lollipop bases and all those other PVP strategies, I formed a very distorted image of what PVP servers were like and how people on them played.
And thanks to that image, every time I saw @anon83039162 post about how we’re all Conan Exiles players, I thought she was just saying something nice, kinda like saying “guys, we’re all human” ![]()
And I was wrong. Sorry. ![]()
It doesn’t change my mind one bit about telling other people to shut up instead of discussing things with them. I mean, you guys helped me understand by talking to me, and I’m actually grateful to you for that. It would not have happened without the opportunity to talk and to challenge each other’s arguments.
Time for a lil break… ![]()

I would add, many of the long term pvpers try to both build something creative and tactical. My builder in my clan does this. We sometimes talk about how we miss some of our beautiful complicated builds that held up for months only to be offlined. Those stick out more to us than the FoB types when we are in full war mode. We have even been complimented by noobs on how cool our base looked. Sometimes we took that as a threat
and over reacted, but we still appreciated the words.
LOL. I can visualize that now. Staring down at the bloody pulp. “Thanks man. It is a cool base. Oh and welcome to Conan”
i have to throw this in as my only comment on this thread but honestly it seems this whole thread has just become another one of those PVP VS PVE hate threads… and should probably be closed… lots of he said she said. i’m not wrong your wrong with little to no actual thought on why the other side might be actually right about some things…
i feel that there is probably an issue with the way certain pieces are handled and i hope the dev team is looking or will look into this… like being able to place bombs between gateframes and drawbridges just shouldn’t be possible… not sure why this is the first time i’ve heard of this… it sounds like the OP should have been posting a bug report instead of a feedback.
honestly i don’t see why bombs should be placeable on a cap anyways… it just seems to me logically they should roll off or something it kinda seems from a pvp standpoint a broken mechanic. a lot of the points made as to why this is pay to win sound like broken mechanics in the base game/ other dlc items all together… i had to quit reading early on in this post and skim through to find the actual problem and why people are having issue with things because it’s just i’m pvp so this is why i’m right or i’m pve so this is why i’m right…
threads like this irritate the crap out of me because there’s good information in it but the “passionate” pvpers can’t pull there heads out of there rears to listen to a PVE’er and the same seems to go the other way around… “passionate” PVE’ers don’t want to listen to a legit complaint from the PVP crowd…
we all play this game because we love a certain aspect of the game… i am a pve person and i run my own server so i can handle things how i feel it should be handled but honestly i do see an issue here i wouldn’t call it P2W myself but more of this DLC has shown a flaw in the way some base game/dlc items are handled…
Maybe I missed it but my takeaway was actually that the problem is on the non-nemedian pieces. It sounds wrong to me that you should be able to slip a bomb in on those. So the roof thing notwithstanding (you should just be able to place a bomb on them) it looked like the other build pieces had the bug/exploit to me.
Basically the take should be that this particular DLC has a competitive advantage over all others including the built in building pieces.
My description is important if you actually want it fixed. They arent going to make gaps in the nemedian gate frame I can tell you that.
This imbalance could be easily fixed by Funcom. Clone the gate, change texture and make it a free T3 adition to the basegames T3 building pieces.
They arent going to make gaps in the nemedian gate frame I can tell you that.
They’re also not going to change the 3D models for the past DLCs. For whatever reason, they just don’t do that.
But maybe they could adjust the collision for the Nemedian gate frame?
I actually wouldnt take an adjustment to the old off the table. I dont think they have to touch the visual to fix it.
I see no reason to close the thread like you said “another thread pvp vs pve” might as well get it all out on the table here and not derail more threads because of it. In my opinion it’s a healthy argument as some people are starting to understand the other side a bit better. That being said it will probably be closed regardless
Agreed. Sure you could say we derailed but at the same time, the conversation turned more to this PVE vs PVP thing because of the topic at hand morphed into what type of solutions are there. The point however is that this is a far more respectful thread than other threads that are complete disdain fests of ‘haters gotta hate’.
my thinking is it needs to be that the other pieces need those gaps removed as that to me defeats the purpose of them all together
if they don’t close it i hope it can become more peaceful. we all love the game and i know we all feel passionate about our playstyles but if we all can unite under the fact that changes to the game will effect everyone and figure out and produce logical and constructive idea’s on how to fix these things it would benefit us all. maybe a legit thread for us to all argue it out would be better than all the derailing
i hate all the hate the different side of this awesome community gets towards its self. it’s probably one of the most passionate gaming communities i’ve been part of. we all see the amazing potential in the game and small oversights like these cause such huge rifts. i think just a small adjustment to collisions could change a lot or even just adding a non-placeable zone to things… and these would help pvp and wouldn’t hurt pve at all… hell maybe they could even just use the shape change textures to add some of these items to the base game its self. but they won’t even be able to acknowledge the good idea’s if we are at each others throats
