I’m playing a samurai kinda character and was thinking about lanterns from another game, Champions Online. A superhero MMO. And I’ve been thinking about that ever since.
Ah Champions online… how i miss it, and yet how i absolutely do not miss it…
A back slot would be nice for backpacks (Like bearer pack) passive light sources, scarves, capes, mantles and the like. In essence it could be a “trinket” slot. I dont see any harm in it.
Juuuuuuuust be careful posing about other games and other artwork not related to Conan on the forums… it could be misinterpreted as being “disrespectful.” There are some sensitive exiles that walk these forums. I don’t see what you posted as all that bad, just giving you some advice for later.

As would I. As has been discussed before, capes and cloaks are a pain to animate, especially considering the variety of armor and clothing of different shapes and sizes, so as to prevent clipping. You’d need a different cape model for e.g. Hyrkanian Raider than you’d need for something like Zamorian Thief.
Backpacks etc. would be much more forgiving, as having your back armor sink into the backpack model wouldn’t prod out in such a disturbing fashion as it would through a cloak. Affixed lantern poles and similar paraphernalia would also probably be possible - just be careful when going through doorways or standing under low thatched ceilings if you have a lantern poking over your shoulder.
Also, as much as I’d love to have both hands free for fighting at night, I can’t imagine how carefully one would have to fight with a lantern poking out like that.
