So why are they called Thralls when we are the ones doing all the work?
They are more like our masters. We have to build their weapons, armour, castles etc and now even hunt and supply their food. Those lazy bastards just stand there and die whenever something looks at them the wrong way.
Honestly I do not like the idea of feeding them mostly because it will add too much extra worry and stress on players in PVP.
I want to play as a solo player in PVP as I love the cruelty of it but if honest it’s becoming a pain as whenever I’m offline my base is raided, my thralls annihilated and if off longer then a day or two things begin to disappear.
When raided players will just empty out all your food or take it so when you come online you have no food to replace your thralls or take new ones out of storage as they will starve unless you go hunting for meat.
Once raided I already have to spend the day recovering materials to rebuild and recreate every weapon, tool, armour that was stolen.
If i now have to micro manage thralls then honestly they wont be worth the effort as they are killed too easily by players.
I understand feeding pets but seriously are Thralls too useless to find their own food? We have to.
I can say I haven’t even tamed a fighter Thrall in weeks as there is no point in PVP servers. Every time a player sees them they murder them for the fun of it. Useless and pointless.
I, for one, am all for this. Though it should be noted that I still hold out hope for more of the settlement/city-life features being implemented. I still want to have to make housing for them.
I mean, yeah I can do that now - but to do it and have it be functional.
That’s another good one. Except from what I remember I was only getting 60 at a time, that might change with the harvest animals gets bigger yield perk though and a better tool. I might have to test that.
Only thing is I don’t know what kind of respawn timer the remnant has.
I think I kinda remember it being ~10 to 15 mins… approx. like world bosses. I had to wait for respawn once, since I forgot to interact with the recipes inside the pool after I killed him the first time
Ehmm guys about the fish, you are aware all fish give you oil in different ratios right?
About feeding thralls, I probably will resort to crab and lobster since, cooked, they really last a long time.
I am kind of worried about the implementation of feeding thralls.
Persoanlly I am not fully happy with the thralls as they work now but I do not bother that much since they are mere decoration for me since Purge does not work on my private server.
What I do not like is to be forced to log into the game just to keep my 80-100 thralls alive.
Currently my server is kind of low pop since in the endgame are too many issues plus some RL obligations as well.
Sure I shall not judge a book by its cover but I think they probably missed out a way to put immersion in, a pot feeding thralls automatically does not make sense without magic, so I would rather have seen you being able to place a table were you can put a cook in.
Also the range will matter, honestly I would not want to place several of those pots per base because it just reaches about 5 foundations, but we will see I guess, fortunately not on live yet

i must have something like 150 placed thralls on my current server and i already know that my fishing larder will be way enough to feed all my thralls untill they give birth…

I hope they make the thralls more usefull if we have to feed them, its to easy for other players to kill them, I will not feed useless soldiers.
My three walls bunker system is more usefull than thralls at the moment against purges and players.
How would using foods with longer decay timers be abuse? Just seems damned smart. In reality, dried and salted foods last quite a bit longer than 24 hours if properly maintained.
And to speak to the OP’s main message, I would agree that it is preferable if this mechanic can be turned off, or otherwise tweaked so that it lessens the chore feel.
Who is even going to bother putting out fighther and archer thralls at all, much less endure the tedium of feeding them, when, currently, they are virtually useless?
I would like to see thralls fixed and working as intended before there’s any talk of having to slop them like swine every couple of days.
Not to mention on test live you have to bait all fish traps now and decay or rott effect is making fish rot when in traps and from my understanding baiting your fish traps is not garuantee that you will even catch fish

Seems to me just ads another level of micromanaging feeding your thralls
And beehives need worker need that die after producing honey and a queen bee to have an active hive
