New Follower Limit - Feedback thread

It’s not a technical matter, a gameplay issue, the main gameplay and proposal of the game, its text was very beautiful, and I need to congratulate you on its resourcefulness, but beautiful words do not change the concept of long-term gameplay, we talk of thousands of hours. not dozens, for technical reasons, is still a matter of gameplay!

I have stated in all my texts that the subject is malleable, when dealing with people and feelings one cannot merely take the technical issue into consideration, it needs to be taken into account how much the technique needs to adjust to the need, just as it does. The need needs to adjust the technique!

Here’s an explanation of the performance problems caused by the thralls. Here’s a breakdown of why thralls are more of a problem than placeables or building pieces.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we should all shut up and stop arguing about the cap. I’m merely trying to make sure everyone understands what’s going on. Otherwise we can’t have a productive discussion.

Too hard your thinking to fit the reality of a real world, we’re talking about leisure and fun, an entertainment company, not a mechanical equipment savvy for everyday necessity, games aren’t basic necessities, games are fun. That is precisely why the concept I preach is so important, we are giving you with PEOPLE AND FEELINGS and not with cars.

And for this technical problem of the car I also have a solution, put fuel that he walks and make your trip.

So far, I have been playing on official servers only. If you want to know what my issues with this update are, here’s a post where I compiled a list of links about it. This has been presented from my point of view, but from what I’ve seen, I’m not the only one who thinks like that.

As for “if you don’t like it, move to a private server”, yeah, that’s an option, but it’s also unkind to dismiss the whole discussion with a comment like that.

What you need to understand is that in this case the ‘funcom’ doesn’t ask us, how many slaves do you need, but how many slaves do you feel good and happy with?

Just as when a new DLC is launched we are not offered a ‘technical solution’ to anything, we are not asked, do you need a new armor with the same attributes ?, but we are proposed, we know you don’t you need it, hey but you can feel great, very satisfied and happy having this new armor that equals dozens you already have, BUT it’s prettier, that’s all, it won’t change NOTHING in your game, it’s just going to make happy and fulfilled.

That’s where your car argument, a basic need for mobility, doesn’t fit the need for “fun and feelings,” it’s very easy to act logically and practically, but we HUMANS don’t act, and that’s WONDERFUL!

I mean, I get where you’re coming from. I see that this particular forum topic is about how they shouldn’t “punish PC players because of console players”. That’s factually incorrect and I don’t agree with the sentiment anyway, but… please don’t lump everyone in that same sack :wink: As it happens, there are those of us who are trying to have a reasonable discussion about the update, hoping that Funcom might accept some feedback and make some changes. Not roll back the update or drop the follower cap, but make some changes to the update.

There’s this saying that goes “there’s more than one way to skin a cat”. They have reasons to do this, but that doesn’t mean that the way they’re doing it can’t be tweaked, improved or complemented, so that it doesn’t needlessly make things worse for a whole segment of players that should be equally valued as every other player.

I find it very funny that this text from, go to a private server, seems to me quite recurring to like minded people, that thought certainly cannot be used by a company that works with public service.

You sure are a WELL individualistic, technical and practical person, and that can work for you, congratulations, you are then the profile of the person who plays on private servers or alone, I DON’T! I am the social profile, you are the technical profile.

So why are you, the technical profile, ordered to have the social profile go to play alone? There is a big inversion of values here!

All radicalism, and you want to be extremely radical for the technical side, is harmful, I come in my speeches opening questions, asking solutions, and proposals … and not only in this forum, dozens and even steam.

I don’t know when you are feeling more important and smarter than me (and you seem to feel like a technical robot without feelings), but unfortunately for you it is NOT! and you will have to live with it for the rest of your life!

Exactly! Couldn’t have said it better myself!

So what’s the problem with the situation? Well, to take your metaphor and run with it, we have a family with two parents and many kids. Some of the kids like to play sports, others like to build with Legos. And the parents decided to buy everyone a bunch of basketballs.

Here endeth the metaphor.

I have this weird feeling that we’re sort of agreeing past each other, if you know what I mean. Like I keep explaining, I really do want the problem to be solved – even though it doesn’t affect me personally – but I’m just trying to affect the way the problem is solved :wink:

Precisely because of this everywhere the question is raised that the ERROR was not the proposed limit, the error was the size of the limit, and as in each platform and game mode this limit should be applied to meet the needs of that specific community. !

Unfortunately his “radicalist” opinion did not let him read and understand ALL the forums, comments and everything that is talked about, not only by me, by the community.

I won’t argue with you anymore, we don’t share the same worldview, I see a world where people should be happy, at a balance between sacrifice and satisfaction, you see a world where people should be fully optimized, even if it doesn’t make them happy.

I respect your opinion, but I don’t want to live in your wholly optimized but unhappy world, so I would know that I could run quickly across the map thousands of hours, BUT aimless, no slaves, no collecting, weapons and armor, but running fast through the map. whole map for 3,000 hours.

Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

I just want to finish by reporting my experience with reading the testimonials of people, many beautiful and touching testimonials, that even want to talk guy come here and give me a hug at the end will be all right.

Unfortunately agent still does not know if in the end it will be okay, but I always liked the positioning of funcom as a company “hardworking and attentive” the latest updates show this, are added the main needs of the public, “slaves moving in the grassroots”, mounts, new caves, boss and mechanics of new metals and armor to be spiked in the game and not just buying for DLCs, it is precisely because I trust this company positioning that I was not surprised to see that TODAY they even made an official pronouncement at steam saying that they saw this whole ‘misunderstanding’ movement as to the mechanics of limitations, since Funcom itself has always been very proud of the lack of limits in the game, so a company that has always given us such pride couldn’t limit its game to nothing 50 slaves, such an absurdly low number.

I seriously BELIEVE that this was a mistake, and they soon realized that, and reinforcing not a limitation mistake but the numbers and the lack of clarity of these numbers would not be “fixed” for PC, consoles, PVE and PVP.

I strongly believe that in the coming days this issue will be resolved and resolved in a way that makes everyone feel the least harmed possible, after all this is how the world develops, I have already praised Funcom’s “boldness” in recently doing great things, things that generated horrible BUGs by the way, BUT it was worth them and we risk living a few tough bug days for a big win in the long run.

I find it GOOD and heartening that funcom is still engaged in the game, and creating mechanics and solutions for it, and I want to participate in it all, I want to be happy with them and not against them, well that’s it!

you mean we’re not the borg??!!

lol Im glad the limit is being placed. I don’t think it was ever intended for people to spend literal days metagaming and double stacking building pieces, landclaiming the world, and piling thralls on top of thralls inside thunderdome bases .

We respect that you think so, and do not make people like you do not agree that they are right.

But do not want to prevent people who think differently from you from doing what they want to do, this is called “democracy” and we live a democracy of freedom, people think differently and live differently respecting each other on a legal limit. I used the word “legal limit” because that limit needs to be satisfactory and bearable for everyone who thinks like you and those who think like me!

And so we will be happy together, not so together because you have to play PVP. (may even say not just not to agree) i understand lol

You know that from where? Or are these assumptions?

But we are also saying that we’d rather not have mounts and have no thrall cap than have them and be left with huge ghost towns we’ve spent months building !

Good afternoon.

Sorry if the answer is my question is somewhere above, but I can’t read more than 750 messages.

I have a private server, it was created as PvP (in the hope that one of my friends decides to play this game), but I play it alone: I’m exploring the world and mainly building. Now I have two dozen cities and fortresses, some of them are simply huge. They contain about two thousand thralls - warriors, archers and dancers. EACH of them was individually equipped, the equipment of ALL of them was painted, many changed their appearance using the well-known mod… I planned to continue further…

Should I expect that after the release of your next update, they - most - will simply disappear? A limit of 400 followers? !! WHAT!!! Or for private servers, this restriction can still be lifted? Listen, maybe I don’t understand English too well. Or perhaps you are too superficially delivering very important news …

So, is it supposed to make these restrictions (400 followers or other) MANDATORY for hourly servers? If so, I will delete this game on the same day. Or will this be an optional option?

For private server (or single player offline) you can disable it complete. Or change the cap numbers.

Jot29 already answered, but the very first post on here, there are two different links with your needed answers and further explanations. One is the Official Announcement, and the other is via the Written Recap for the stream yesterday.

https://forums.funcom.com/t/follower-leveling-system-and-follower-limit/92642

So… its a lot to read this full conversation… might have missed some things.

Before the thrall limit will go live we can’t pick them up and place them in chests? Unpacked thralls wil just be deleted?

(I have like 3 small bases and I prefer to choose my own thralls to keep)

Watched the FunCom stream. Looks good, I hate to say. :slight_smile:
As I understand it, and Jens was kinda clear:

  1. Only if I have over 50 or more thralls placed already then I need to cull out the one’s that are not strong enough (the random cull kicks in for 50+ thralls groups);
  2. All of my thralls unplaced (storage) are only included in the thrall total when placed;
  3. Only the thrall(s) that Follow me into battle, and fight, will get XP and become better fighters;
  4. Higher level thralls can become ‘tanks’ and can be equivalent to more than just one current named thrall;
  5. Pets will not change to ‘Greater’ type via XP, only on creation;
  6. Private/Solo Admins can tweak all settings depending on their server-style and that most private servers have smaller clans and player numbers than official;
  7. Lastly, that the ‘Great Culling’ will only start sometime after the Patch/Update rolls out sometime in December, Crom-willing.

Seems clear. Certainly will add more depth to the overall game. :partying_face:
