I would love to share an idea for a new map concept for Conan Exiles – one that draws inspiration from Yamatai and Khitai, while intentionally avoiding the structural and gameplay pitfalls that Isle of Siptah received criticism for.
The goal is not to repeat Siptah’s systems, but instead to deliver something that feels closer to the Exiled Lands in pacing, exploration, and immersion – just set in an eastern-inspired world.
Core Design Philosophy
This map would be designed around the Exiled Lands formula, not Siptah’s experimental structure:
No central tower, no maelstrom-style mechanic
No forced teleportation or RNG-driven progression
Natural world-based progression
Biomes that gate players through danger and survival
Strong lore, factions, and world storytelling
Exploration should feel earned, not rushed.
World Structure & Biomes
1. The Jade Coast (Starter Region)
River deltas, rice fields, fishing villages
Calm but dangerous wildlife, bandits, deserters
Equivalent to Noob River in function and pacing
Focus on survival basics, early crafting, exploration
2. The Bamboo Wilds
Dense bamboo forests and jungle terrain
Vertical gameplay with cliffs, rope bridges, and ruins
Hidden temples and forgotten roads
Enemies: assassins, rogue monks, jungle predators
3. The Golden Steppes (Khitai-Inspired)
Open plains, plateaus, and ancient trade routes
Nomadic clans, war camps, caravan encounters
Ideal PvP region due to visibility and scale
Strong Khitai cultural influence
4. Mountains of Heaven’s End
Snow-covered peaks and remote monasteries
High-risk, high-reward resource zones
Challenging dungeons and elite enemies
Endgame crafting materials found here
5. The Forbidden Imperial City (Endgame Zone)
Ruins of a fallen Yamatai empire
Massive palaces, necropolises, and underground vaults
Heavy lore focus and powerful bosses
No fast travel access – must be reached through the world
Factions & Lore (Living World Focus)
The world should feel alive and conflicted, not static.
The Yamatai Imperium – Order, honor, divine rulership
The Khitai Houses – Political intrigue, trade, sorcery
Exiled Monasteries – Martial discipline, isolation, ancient traditions
Demonic Cult – Corruption, forbidden rituals, lost gods
These factions should clash in the world through camps, events, and territory – not just exist as decoration.
Gameplay Features (Conan-Friendly Additions)
Additions that fit Conan Exiles
New weapon variants (glaives, eastern polearms) using existing systems
Increased world events: caravans, ambushes, faction skirmishes
Light thematic focus on honor vs corruption (lore-driven, not forced)
Intentional exclusions
No battle-royale pacing
No chaos-driven progression
No mandatory meta systems replacing exploration
Building Style & Atmosphere
Pagodas, curved rooftops, jade and stone architecture
Heavy use of fog, rain, wind, distant bells, and ambience
Atmosphere should be grounded, mysterious, and immersive.
Short Pitch Summary
A Yamatai & Khitai-inspired map for Conan Exiles, built with the same core philosophy as the Exiled Lands: natural progression, strong lore, dangerous biomes, and classic survival gameplay – but set in a rich eastern world.
Thanks for reading.
This is meant as constructive inspiration, not a demand – but I truly believe an eastern-themed map built on Exiled Lands principles could be something special for Conan Exiles’ future.
oh i love it, 100% the game could use another map and not a mod map (why becuse not everyone can play it, yes im think allso on console players) and i think people will be more than happy to pay for a new map dlc
I feel like with AI growing ever more powerful and also how many talented modders the game has. It’s getting easier to make an CE clone by the day. I am not one of those talents. But if people like that one guy who makes the Isle of Women/Isle of Men map mods, and all the other modders that make weapons, armor and mechanic mods for the game got together, they could probably make a really awesome conan clone, name it something different and boom take my money. Its also crazy that alot of these modders seem to be able to achieve what the development teams for CE seem to say is impossible or would take along time to develop for the game in a seemingly short amount of time.
Thank you!
And yes, that’s a really important point, an official map DLC would allow everyone to experience it, including console players who sadly don’t have access to mods.
I genuinely think many players would be happy to support Conan Exiles with a paid map DLC if it delivered the same depth and replayability as Exiled Lands, just in a new cultural setting.
If that actually happened, it is indeed funny, scary and interesting. “AI”, i. e. LLMs, do of course just mash up existing content. One may think of that as one wishes. But if it’s still recognizable, it’s just (bad) copying.
Anyhow, on topic: The map idea sounds great. Will Funcom create something like that? I doubt it. Siptah wasn’t that great a success, and Funcom seems to interpret that as “new map = bad”. Personally, I think that was because of problems of the Sitpah map, not new maps in general - but well, with a team as small as it seems to be, creating a new map would probably be too much. Would really love another “official” map, though.
Maybe one of the great modders in the community.
I’d really love if Funcom would introduce a semi-professional map expansion / creation program. At least would be willing to pay for new maps, and hiring some modders for work they’d maybe do themselves can’t be thaaaaat expensive. I lack any technical knowledge, but what I can offer (writing dialogue, creating quests and so) on I’d do for free for such a project, and others probably would, too.
Anyhow, some suggestions for new maps to try out for those who don’t know them already:
console players cannot have mods maps, it was better if funcom brought savage wilds or made a lore map like the topic is about and made it to a DLC map so everyone can have fun instead of its only PC thir can have fun with new maps
becuse we all know in 10 years if the game still exist its gonan be the same 2 maps their is so only siptah and EL and its a game about conan and its lore when we all know the lore is much bigger than this and map wise to explore
i dont care if its AI made or not the topic is good and it is a good start point for funcom to make a map if they want to
100% they should go for making a new DLC map everyone can play
if the map existet and was made of AI recent to be worry about it. AI is not ready to be used to gaming maybe in 10 years we gonna se it being used every where.
Sure, they are starting already, because you made post about it. Be more realistic, nearly no one is working on this title anymore, apart from bazaar offers and some kind of minor bug fixing once every 6 months - and you are asking for a new map? Check Siptah, major FC failure in terms of “new map”. There is no way you will get official new map for this game - but there are so many modded maps you can use.
i will not say isle of siptah was a huge failure still alot of players playing it, and just becuse they did not make it perfect taht dosent mean they cannot build another if they learn frome the mistakes frome siptah, then all good but siptah is frome the orginale lore you can even see it on they world map.
but thats the problem if we not getting new maps then theys should 100% ask the mods creators to make maps hire them to doit or tak the maps and make them to a DLC and make a deal with them their made it
Ok, one more time - Siptah was and is a huge flop for FC, full of bugs, ill-considered solutions, weird mechanics. They hoped it will revive CE and it did, briefly, now this map is mostly abandoned (check official servers online players count). Now ask yourself - based on their experience with Siptah - do they have time, money, manpower and (most importantly) a sincere desire to create a new map?
it seems you did not check private serves, beside taht not many players cannot play on officels at teh same time without have a to high Ping, and most if not 90% of the players plays private serves and singleplayer.
and allso PC players cannot see how the officels servers looks like on consoles, so we dont know how its looks over their
a New Map will be good for the game and not a mod map but a map their is about the game wher everyone can play (everyone=console too)
my trust to funcom is low why becuse of alot fo reasion i will agre the game is maybe dying in my eyes like yours, but that dosent mean funcom can change it, becuse they can its depends if they want to.
but i am hoping for something maybe its stupid in some eyes but for me this is funcom last chance to prove anything over for me their have played their game since early access launch 9 years ago
I’ll try to answer a few things at once since a couple of different discussions are mixing together.
First of all, yes, I used AI to help structure and format the post. The ideas, direction and design goals are mine, based on many years of playing Conan Exiles PvP. The images are just illustrative concepts, found on Google.
This thread isn’t a demand, and it’s not an expectation that Funcom will suddenly start building a new map tomorrow.
It’s simply a design discussion, what kind of official map could actually work better than Siptah did, if something like that was ever considered again.
About Siptah, I don’t think the takeaway should be “new maps are bad”. I think the takeaway is that Siptah had some specific design issues, not that the idea of additional maps itself was wrong.
Mods already prove one thing pretty clearly, players want new worlds, but console players are completely excluded from that experience.
Even if nothing ever comes of this, I still think it’s worth talking about what worked, what didn’t, and what could be done differently while still staying true to Conan’s lore and identity.
At the end of the day, this is just a conversation between players who care about the game, nothing more, nothing less.
I would pay for a new map if Funcom could make propper assurance to keep the bugs out. Most likely would start a third server. 7 years on Forum day one console player regrettably I don’t think they would pull it off with what ever of the team is left if any.
