Read older posts and a some what attempt of a work around. I am a new player 2 days that is all. I went to a server in my region with lowest ping which was 40. Which sucks but it was the best for the server type I wanted. PVE Official server Americas region. So it went great was enjoying the game until day 2. Same server just the next day and my ping is 170 and you can’t even play.
So i read older forums posts and log out of game log back in a million times, Wait for entire list of all servers to populate (really, what is this a D4 build got to load everyone) anyways I did all that but still I am around 110 to 115 and it is a buggy mess. Lost my first thrall to it lagging the freak out. So I know not a lot of people play this game is this why ? I am going to give it 1 more day before calling it quits for good and asking for refund but this is just unplayable.
That issue is on your end. The server I’m on; unless very specific people are logged in, is good to about a dozen people on before it get bad.
So how many are on your server when you play?
What is your lowest ping server’s ping?
How do you connect?
There are times of day i don’t even try to play; evenings when 14± are on the the server ping is above 150.
I’m sure some one will correct me if I’m wrong but server ping does have a lot to do with the highest ping connected to it. I’ve seen the server I’m on in excess of a 200 ping with just 5 people on.
It is not on my in. My internet is great and all other games work outstanding. POE, Classic WOW I also play. It is something in how their servers are set up. Anyways today is Day 3 and it is still un playable. I did get a 97 ping which was the lowest official servers. It was still too laggy. You could login but there was rubber banding and lag in button responses so log out and tried for over hour to get a lower ping but it stayed between 110-160 unplayable. I have uninstalled and ask steam for a refund.
The game is not even cpu-bound. It is insanity-bound. The Funcom code is just insane. I run my own server and cpu usage is under 20%, RAM under 50%, I/O is negligible and still the game has nasty problems with the AI being deranged and warping and rubberbanding. The server is on my LAN, networking conditions don’t get much more optimal than wired local gigabit.
I will point out if it was the game/servers EVERYONE would have the same issues. I can assure you we’re not. The majority of people have been playing daily, some for hours on end. The issues you seem to be having, to the extent you are having them, is not normal for the game. It runs fine for 10s of Ks of players.
Not saying people don’t have issues. I have issues with foot nailed to floor once and a while; stuck in spot rubber banding back. Some times a simple relog will fix it but I have had to remove my bracelet.
I had issue playing last night because of the number of people on; and their connections. But I had been on playing most of the morning with out problems.
One of the issues with the game is the discount servers it’s on. They might cap them at 40 but unless it is a fresh wiped server, it’s going to start having issues at a dozen. But if you are still having issues with just 3 or 4 people on, it’s not the game.
There are real issues with NPCs being stupid, with laser guided weapons, and moon walking every where, but that doesn’t render the game unplayable. Right now the battle mechanics are screwed up and feel janky due to devs using game pads and not keyboards to play, but the game is still playable. Your followers may doing weird things, even going their own way, game is still playable.
Was it a wise decision to drop a major update then go on vacation for a month? No, but funcom isn’t known for making wise decisions. but the game is still quite playable.
You’ve played the game too long.
Single player is always an option. game should run smooth in single player. If it doesn’t, the issue is on your end.
