The new stamina regen is way too slow. It was bad before this patch, but now its ridiculous. There needs to be better balancing. It brings combat to a standstill, messes with the flow (unless you have daggers/claws).
Please revert to Age of War stamina right after the Spear animation nerf.
Just the fact that you think this is about Roll spam tells me you arent very good at combat and probably are a q-lock dagger spammer and think that that is skill. Your type usually are the ones telling people to āget goodā.
My stam management is just fine, but the issue is Stam regeneration. Combat used to be about outplaying your opponent, now eveyrone just uses claws and daggers because its easy. Some of us dont want to be forced to use a certain weapon just because the meta demands it, instead of skill with a weapon you know.
While I disageee with the āgit gudā response - what is true is that this is back to how stamina in this game always used to regen. The massive acceleration of it for Age of War was a major negative to the game that made stamina management virtually irrelevant. This is a much requested return to a (IMO) far better version of combat. Combat used to be about outplaying and managing your stamina - then stamina regen was accelerated to the point that stamina managment had virtually no meaning - now it has returned to being a part of the required skillset for combat. You will get used to it and will find that the rest of your skillset has not been stripped away by the change, itās just a matter of adapting to it.
Oh Iām aware of that. Ive played since launch and for that have become a pretty decent PVPer. Id be fine with the old system, but remember, in the old system, daggers were still easy to use but were not this deadly. Now, since each weapon cost 50% less stam, this change has only benefited them, since you need a faster regen just to evade their mindless q lock spam. obviously thereās ways around it, never said I cant kill right now. I said the flow of combat is off.
Frankly, there is no āmanaging your staminaā when a dagger/claw spammer can get 4 full combos off of one stam bar but doing nothing but q lock, when thats not the meta, I wont complain. I want skill and true both-sided stamina management, this currently isnt it.
Players complained about spears when they were mindless q lock spam weapons, now its the same for daggers/claws. And yes, EVERYONE uses them, because why notā¦
Agreed - the issue is q-lock itself. I have the option of not using it (so I donāt since I learned how to playā¦), but for you guys itās a much bigger issue. Iāve got my own āimportantā issues that Iāll bring up when Iāve had some more time to test (only just finished re-installing) - but Iāll gladly support a sensible campaign for the removal of q-lock (at least from PVP servers).
Id agree with that to a degree, I dont mind when players use it for some weapons because you cant just keep it on. Daggers and claws, you can.
For instance, I understand 1 handed sword users using them for some attacks, you still have to have skill.
I personally have been a 2H axe user for a long time. Its suited me well. I dont need q lock except for one move I used and even then its only on for a second bc Id get killed if I kept it on for the whole fight. I play on training servers all the time and do just fine and they disable q lock. I dont need it, but just bc i dont need/use it doesnt mean I feel it should be gone.
I say let q lock stay on daggers, but the stunlock needs to be lessened and they need to require more stamina cost. THEN, I will feel these stam changes are balanced enough
I think Q Lock should be removed entirely for PVP, learn to position and act rather than use it as a crutch. Thatās how I learned to PVP - and I did so from some really talented PVPers. (I am not a good combatant by any stretch of the imagination but I can kill people sometimes XP).
But it became a guaranteed win against those who donāt use Q-Lock sometime in Age of War. Much of combat and the game as a whole has centered on newcomers though. Reaping immediate reward for little payment.
The change that isnāt being mentioned here is that back in AoS (where most of these stam values come from) we had larger amounts of hyper armor on heavy attacks of all weapons. Most of those hyper windows are very short now and weapons like daggers/claws have been eating sort of good by exploiting those windows.
It hasnāt been as drastic as it feels now because before you get staggered and you could dodge roll out, wait .1 seconds and regen your stam and start over. You canāt do that too many times now, which is why weapons that can attack faster and donāt necessarily need hyper armor to work are working even better.
Go into your server settings and change it to the values you want. Or find a server owner that has the settings you are looking for.
The only thing that changed in the patch was the reintroduction of the grey out effect when one is exhausted. Everything else was simply changing what the setting defaults are, you can change those to have whatever stamina system you wish.
Agreed , remove Q lock even if itās just for PvP.
Makes 0 sense to have a built in aim lock for players in a game where precision and timing are supposed to be the main elements of combat
You might be in the minority here. The new stamina update is brilliant! The reason I say you are in the minority as you need to have a look at the statistics. Player count dropped significantly after the Age of War stamina update. Reverting back to the original stamina is better, and you will start to see how the player base will increase after a few days. I see you also mention you enjoy axe, same with me, and after this update I feel this is also better for PVP axe users. Yes, dagger spammers will love this, but you should be able to take them out with an axe easy as well. Just please be patient and try to adjust, you will see this update is good!
I think when fighting at night / darker areas, many people use Q lock to see where the enemy is
But yeah, Q lock needs to be removed. However i feel this may deter new players, they will be discouraged and feel the game is too hard, and we need new players to fill the servers.
ā I assume that most of the time you run low on stamina is because you get forced to dodge roll too much. Probably because you are used to dodge roll at the slightest fart that was thrown at you, because stamina did not matter in PvP.
Now that stamina matters, you get outplayed. Just adapt. Learn and get better. Here is a pro tip:

Also regarding daggers, they nerfed the damage to poop so you can tank some hits in favor to regain stamina.
But the fact that you have to tank hits is bad and tells me you are getting severely outplayed.
Also my friend. They couldāve simply removed the stamina in Age of War, it would not have made a difference. This is how bad it was. Stamina management was nonexistent.
