Not seeing much difference in building style between Jewel of West and Argos packs

Not that big a difference between the two styles. There may be some new statues but over all they look the same.

Kind of disappointing to be honest.

Ceiling tiles instead of square now have round bits in them woohoo :stuck_out_tongue:

Also rounded extendable pillars, and argosean dlc is more oriented into atlantean (ancient greek architecture), rather greco roman (aquilonian dlc)… I love the fact that both can be combined together in a single build… Also for me this is a reason to own both dlcs

Yes, I love that they blend well together. Its like an expansion on an expansion to get more use out of the building styles and options. And its my favorite style, so I’m doubly pleased. Squares and Octagons in blended color schemes (with some curved pieces now).

They were designed to be compatible. I like the idea.

The new pillars and decorations alone would’ve sold me this DLC, but the new armors look pretty good, too, especially on male characters.

Having lived in Cyprus (Greek and Roman ruins abound), and loved visiting the Amalfi coast (Roman ruins, some with Greek links) and Athens (as Greek as it gets) this was the perfect addition to my previous favourite dlc. Add in that there’s a statue of Aphrodite (presumably - the seashell implies a sea connection) and the lovely columns, and some vaulted ceilings to replace some of the Arena vaults if I want more pazazz - basically it has a lot going for it.

Alexander the great, Afrodite of Milos, Poseidon the god of sea, Hercules fighting Medusa, is the inspirations of the statues. For once again, please, Ancient Greek architecture is not similar to Roman, IT CANNOT BE BECAUSE IT EXISTED 1.500 YEARS BEFORE. Please respect this little difference. ROMAN ARCHITECTURE IS SIMILAR TO ANCIENT GREEK, IT HAS INFLUENCE BUT IT IS UNIQUE AND NOT GREEK. Please 2 great civilizations, must be treated with respect, not the new Greece, not the new Italy, say whatever you like about them. Thank you

Well sayd megale!

Although i know it is only a game and the styles are out of a fantasy universe,
I am a little offended by these details (I still like the DLC, and feel free to correct me if I“m wrong):

  • The doric capitels do not fit the base. Real doric columns never had a base!

  • Vaulted ceilings, arcs and the like are a roman invention, so as much as they are missing in other styles like the turanian, they are alienating me here.

Tottaly true , there is ofcurce the designer fantasy. I cannot expect an exact copy of the rythm , plus it wouldn’t be interesting . Still i love it .Don’t forget that if you want to fix Colloseum you need more Arena Dlc pieces than Aquilonian . What i believe is all the dlcs are beautifull, unique and if you use them all you will get a Masterpiece. The dlcs has influence, fantasy and connection. Don’t you think ?

Well of course
Perhaps that“s the reason I own all of them. :smirk: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Totally happy every time when I find the breath to build some community buildings or outposts on our PVP-server:
ItĀ“s always a great excuse to use these ā€œexpensiveā€ building pieces and not the ā€œcheapā€ black ice parts that the main bases are made of  !

Aquilonian and Argossean might be similar, but they’re far from the same, and that’s precisely what I loved about the new DLC: I finally have several pieces I missed having in the Aquilonian architecture. Round pillars are definitely a great addition, although Turanian pillars also blend well with Aquilonian architecture. But the most important addition for me were vaulted ceilings that I can put in my Aquilonian base! :metal:

I just wish they paid attention to details and didn’t do sloppy, shoddy work like releasing roofs that don’t fit together :frowning:

Now in ps4 black ice structures looks like cows . I am helping an admin to a private server by fixing for him maprooms and event constructions . I was replacing the vanilla constructions all day because of the cow skin . I really like vanilla constructions, but dlc is something else. I don’t own all the dlcs however, i wish i did , to this point i am really jealous of you

I cannot agree more. This is a pvp - pve Arena. The little houses left and right is for the red and blue team preparations. The great house at the end is for spawning mobs. Ofcurse you will learn what it is spawned after the great gate opens :joy::joy::joy:. Still Aquilonian is fantastic and unique. However the most beautiful buildings belongs to Turanian. You know what Alexander the great said when he witnessed the hanged gardens of Babylon? We are the barbarians not them. I believe that they must add this somehow in a dlc, we must be able to fix beautiful gardens. Hops are not enough :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Fountains! There are fountains now instead of those shabby Wells spoiling all the beauty of T3 bases! Now I’ll be waiting for better-looking Cupboards in the next DLC

Thanks for the reminder @Perstyr - I went back through photos from holiday a couple of years back and seeing so much of the Argos/Auqilonian DLCs in those shots (well done again to the FC Art thralls)

Only peasants build wells, the rest of us build either Statues of Refreshment or Pools of Refreshment :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

And now we finally have some decent fountains

Oooh, I like that idea. Fancy storage FTW!

I will admit, when the images first started coming out, I was a tad disappointed. As many have already commented, Argos seemed extremely close to Jewel. However, after my current admins built a model structure using the pieces, it has started to grow on me. The ivy alone really makes a difference.

With that said, I am definitely not a fan of the Duplo Blocks-esque undersides to the ceiling pieces.
