Old weapon animations and crossbows

Just trying to get the discussion going on old weapon animations. For instance the leap at the end of the sword heavy chain. It was the axe heavy starter and I miss it. I know I am asking for a lot probably with coding especially if different attacks come with weapon experience or something.

Also Crossbows. Had to bring it up because I saw them for like half a second when the game first dropped. I think the variety would do wonders for both PVP and PVE communities.

And more Agility weapons usually within the strength category pls.

Crossbows were a big cause of desync so the only way you’d feasibly get them back is as slower bows.

Do you know why? Is it just a weird thing that was?

Would they work in the enhanced version?

The way they were set up is just far too demanding. The crossbows had three states the game had to keep track of and update on frequent if not near constant basis - unarmed, armed but unloaded, ready to fire. On top of that there was the type of bolt that was assigned to it. Now - add that all together with every player and any NPC with one within render distance of any player. That alone is a lot but now you’ve the whole nonsense of trying to have that all synced between ALL client connections.

Needless to say, any little hiccup in there will be causing desync.

To the best of my recollection crossbows were dropped just before launch when the “combat update” happened.

The reason given was if I recall correctly, they had “balance issues” with other weapons under the new combat system. Archery was also altered at that time, prompting me to take a break from the game, because I favored archer game play, and the “extreme” distance shot I was fond of became no longer possible.

Previously crossbow thralls were “meta” for base protection, because of how effective they were.
