Ever since the parity patch, it seems every update takes roughly 2-5 minutes to install, and the Halloween patch is no different, I know this isn’t an issue with my PS4, as other game patches and DLC install almost immediately, it seems to be only Conan Exiles it happens to, even games with noticeably large patches install faster.
It’s a PS4 thing and has nothing to do with the game. Any and every game I get an update for downloads super fast over 1gb internet, but then takes 5-20 minutes to copy, happens with CoD, Overwatch, Destiny, etc. Regardless if the update file is 1gb or 30gb.
It’s not only Conan exiles but also another games for PS4.
If patch files is large, update will finish soon(relatively).
But small, update will take long times.
It seems patch solution difference between overwrite and Diff.
The former is bigger size & fast update, the latter is smaller size and slow update.
Depending on how the “packets/bundles” of data are stored. the game needs to pull a copy of said data, changed it, then copy it back into the install space. (so to speak)
It varies from game to game. If you ever messed with Elder Scrolls or Fallouts (later ones) in editor. BSA files etc. Consoles are abit slower on this front.
So just cause its 88mb files, doesn’t always mean its easy to paste in. It’ll have to pull 20gb (sizes vary) section related to it. Copy it over, then put the 20gb back as it was. (I think thats simple version way to explain it. (it varies game to game)
There article on polygon or kotaku about it, (and downloads taking forever)
