Pets keep dying randomly and it is heartbreaking

Game mode: Online Official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvP
Region: North America 1808

Pets seem to be dying randomly while following player character. One while I was running up terrain stairs, one while running down placed stairs, one while jumping down a cliff, pet teleported down beside me, and then died. Does not appear in event log either.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Be super lucky and train a white tiger
  2. Take awesome tiger out for farming
  3. Come home, run up stairs, “white tiger is no longer following you”, can’t find tiger’s corpse
  4. Curse funcom and despair, no one else has even gotten a white tiger on my server, so the chances of getting another are slim.

This happens with thralls, too, not just pets. They should just remove fall damage from all NPCs, it’ll get rid of accidental pet deaths, get rid of exploits with people using stairs to kill NPCs, etc.

I also had some following pets die. I was doing errands around my base with a crocodile following. The crocodile made a noise then I got the message it was no longer following me. I harvested its corpse. I’m just wondering what this is about.

When I jumped down from low cliff, my pet teleported down around me and died too. It was a greater wolf though. lol

Yeah, this is a frustrating thing that can happen which we are aware of. We are currently considering and looking into options to help with this. One option is to not have them insta-die on falling.

What’s annoying is that this wasn’t as big an issue originally, for a long time thralls would follow and not fall through floors (fixed now), draw bridges (not fixed), and elevators (not fixed). PLEASE fix thralls on elevators and drawbridges.

Also for the last 6 months the AI has been real wonky and wouldn’t attack sometimes. Though that seems to be working much better now in the last couple weeks.
