Pillar + Wall placement bug / issue

Game mode: Online official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvE-Conflict
Region: US
Mods?: No
Edition: Steam

Bug Description:

So I am rebuilding with the new Nemedian DLC structures ( Have not tested this with other DLC structures ) and I have come across an issue with Pillars + Walls. It would seem that Pillars, when placed on the corners of a Ceiling tile will conflict with which direction you can place Walls. To be fair, I realize placing Pillars on the corners of Ceiling tiles requires a “building glitch” involving stairs which I’m sure you are aware of as videos of said glitch for unique building techniques have been out for some time now.

As of right now though, at least with the new Nemedian DLC, it would seem that certain Pillar locations do not allow you to change which way a wall is facing, such as the Windowed Wall being forced to face inwards instead of outwards. I did try rotating the Pillar to see if that would fix it, but it’s still a bit unreliable.

I am going to assume that the fix would require a closer examination of Pillars and how the react with walls.

Steps to Reproduce:

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. Please be as detailed as possible; the more details, the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Place a Pillar on the corner of a Ceiling tile using the “building glitch” involving stairs.
  2. Try to place Walls on the same Ceiling tile that the Pillar is situated on the corner of.
  3. Attempt to flip Wall to properly face outwards instead of inward.
  4. Fail to flip Wall into the proper facing direction which is conflicting with Pillar on the corner.

Just wanted to post an update about some of the issues and workarounds I’ve come up with. So, I still think the root of the problem involves glitching the pillars into corners of a tile, but it also seems to affect other structure pieces besides walls. I’ve also encountered issues with the vaulted ceilings, where if you place those first, next to a pillar thats in the corner, it will amplify future issues with walls only facing one direction. So it would seem walls work better if you place them down before placing down the vaulted ceilings.
