Just looking for confirmation of something here. I know that (for official servers) your name shows up in the player list if you chat. However, does it also show up for proximity? For example, on my server there is a large clan and randomly some of their names will show up on the player list, even though there is no chat activity. I have a few possible causes that come to mind:
- They are using local/area chat rather than global, but they still show up on the player list.
- They used the chat option within 5 minutes of my logging on and still show up for fresh joined players (this seems unlikely as it has happened after long logon periods as well)
- Being within a certain distance of players also causes your name to show up.
This is important because I’m a solo player on a server with 2 large clans. So staying hidden is really important, but if proximity triggers my name in the player list that is a big issue. Being stealthy ninja is important, but if they know I’m nearby I at least want to be aware that they know.
Anyone confirm the behavior here?
