Not exactly, it depends on the target hp at least, this post explains it.
What I would do is leave it as it is, but increase that cap to 2x
So the demon would start out with the 10 minutes, however killing things could build up a lifespan of up to 20 minutes, which I think would already be quite a significant change as it doubles your potential downtime between targets…
Sometimes small changes have quite a huge effect and it’s generally better to do it in small steps, especially with Funcom’s track record of going from one extreme to the other. If further modification is needed, it can always be requested again
I should clarify that when I say “babying” I only mean managing the short timer. My clan mates have a running joke about me and getting our thralls killed, even when thralls were most of the player’s power I neglected them.
I can see the value in demons when low level for PvE farming, but as player power increases it seems less and less of a value proposition to me.
Also, a big part of my perspective comes from PvP. The timer makes bringing them base attacks cumbersome. Raiding is already a time sensitive environment, having to manage an 10 min timer on top of that is not worth what they bring to the table IMO. The need to level makes them useless for active defense and the timer for passive.
I guess I just don’t see where they excel in PvE? For PvP I could see them being useful for god token farming, but with 4x on officials I feel like golems just outpace demons in all the use cases I can think of.
It would be interesting to see out of all of the pet/thrall types, which ones actually are most frequently used.
Given the kill x every 10 minutes or lose it, I’m fairly certain Demons are at the bottom end of the spectrum.
If it’s role is intended to be exclusively RP, I guess it makes sense - but 20 x kills to max level vs. 3 meatsheild zombies starting at max level, or a Golem at max level, or a fully geared Thrall with heals… They just don’t pencil.
