Holy hell. So I tried out the summoned demon tonight to play around and leveled it’s looking like below. Zombies are better. Hell berserkers just off the wheel are better. If these stats are the end product, then you need to make these guys a permanent thrall or you buff them to the 10 minutes worth of thrall they should be…base should be a full leveled berserker. Not worth the sacrifice because you aren’t getting power
Have you tested the rocks they throw on other players?
No just at NPCs. Also I couldn’t get them to follow with the horse or zombies. I was going to play around a bit more to see if they can follow with a normal thrall.
Unless they’ve been nerfed in chapter 3, the summoned demon is quite powerful. It starts off seemingly anemic, but quickly grows in power as you use it as it levels with each kill, no matter what you’re killing. It also gets some pretty hefty armor and strength bonuses, I mean the screenshot shows 270% extra damage.
Its timer also resets everytime it kills something. So if you need to farm kill a few things, the demon is actually quite good for that. And due to its temporary nature, its expendable at that. Its to be used as an expendable minion, not an enduring comrade. As it does want to kill you.
Yeah and look at the hp and the armor and the issue of you can’t have any other followers with it (which I am assuming is a bug and filled out the report) and I have to sacrifice someone to get it…it sucks. I can get thugra leveled and equal to this in only a hour or two and he stays after I log off.
The way they these things have been left to the side is a disservice to the time and energy of the model skin. I don’t have a problem with temporary and having to satiate their blood lust but for a mediocre level follower? Yeah I’ll just continue to get zombies and dominate as a necromancer because demonology isn’t as worrisome as much as it sounds.
More but you know, maybe you’re right. My complaint probably is not about the demon but about how bad pets are as follows. The demon is definitely a pet while zombies are a hybrid but you can definitely tell different people worked on their function and balance in the game.
If he is considered a pet, then 270% is a small bonus. For a pet, only values around 500-600 give a normal increase in damage.
Depends on the base damage. I don’t remember what that is for demons. But 270% for 10 base damage is a small amount. But for 100 its devastating.
My Brutus on Siptah has 525% damage bonus. His bite does 50 points of damage. </3
Brutus has a base damage of 21 (assuming he’s using the alpha dog weapon, the regular dog is 10), the Demon is 65. He might be bugged. Even without, though, a high STR demon is going to very much out damage just about any pet. Surpassed only by decent thralls with really good gear.
Yeah I see that as well (at least how decent the demon is as a pet…not a snake alpha but on par with a white wolf). Still because you can only use this type of thrall only, zombies are far superior.
Interesting, I believe the Alpha Dog Pets are not using the proper weapons. They’re using Wolf Weapons which are 14 damage. Which means they are doing around a third less damage then they are supposed to.
I don’t know if this applies to the named dogs. Going to have to dig a little deeper there. But I assume they do, since they likely use the same template just modified with their own stats and perks.
-edit
Nope, they are using the wrong weapons. Brutus is using the 14 and 17 damage (17 is charge and heavy bite) weapons used by regular wolves (item rows 23841-23848), when they should be using Alpha Dog weapons (rows 23530-23433… missing 4 attacks which is why this probably is).
But yeah… what I said in the beginning still stands. Use demons over pets if you can.

I know the stats look bad on paper but it’s better then it looks. Try doing Warmakers with it.
Although i did a session of using only sorcery to lvl up and grow just with sorcery, without weapons at all, my session ended when I finally took the last sorcery recipe and then with Abyssal maul and bow, i took the artifacts and escaped the lands. I didn’t use golems.
Using only sorcery “weapons” i had 3 in total summoned demons. The one of 3 took perks in strength and yes, only this demon was helpful to be considered helpful follower, the others were bellow average.
So i agree my friend erjoh, they need something better than this rng that defines their quality as followers. I believe demons should come out like golems, with standard stats and your build (authority) should define how effective they are.
Don’t forget that the combination of Abyssal armor and well trained can make even the average really powerful. If you use follower buffs too, they one shot most of the map.
But if you wish, the next week we can start a session together brother. We can be the sorcerers of the land and learn the secrets of sorcery together.
I would beg @LostBrythunian to come and teach us the golems powers. We will play only as sorcerers and try to use every single spell to find their best usage.
What’s worth the summon most of everything is the rhino. I hope they won’t nerf the rhino, it’s a pure killing machine for free.
This one hasn’t been pragmatically active much of late.
Advice would be…
Stale.
This one is mostly familiar with them as lawn ornaments/bug zappers for the purge to kill itself on.
That said, a more in depth demonology system would be nice. Heart of a Hero, Tablets of power, powder of corrupt, dung, brimstone, Demon blood to write obscenities on prayers to Mitra ect, should be components for a much better demon.
Then again, why isn’t there a Golem made from Stone of Corruption?
I love that idea so much. Why didn’t I think of it?
May Set be with you
I would be very happy if we could summon a bat demon to fight for us as well. Just some variety would be nice. The Abyss must have several kinds of demons.
I also wish there was some way to cast a spell to regain control of a demon which breaks free. Be it an offering to some greater power or some sort of fetish that imposes your will on the creature again.
May Set be with you
Maybe it was simply bad luck. Probably summoned X’alstaf the Unmotivated.
The Alpha dogs did good damage before the Age of War, I think. And then their damage got screwed up. Now, whether this will ever be changed back, who knows? It does make all the trouble you have to go through to get Brutus totally not worth it.
