Please post a roadmap for future content

Hello,
I’ve been playing this game since 2018 and have purchased most of the dlc. I love the physics, music and style of play and haven’t found anything else like this that I enjoy. Rust, Ark, The Forrest, while all decent are not this IP. While Conan Exiles hà severe bugs and issues, I still play it every day and will continue until something new comes out with all that I mentioned and more… Minus the crippling game issues and bugs.

Despite all of this, is this title going to continue on console or do you see this being the end and it going strictly back to PC where it was originally?

Is there any kind of visual or textual road map for the foreseeable future?

One thing I can note is that in a recent Livestream they noted that the majority of their players are on console, so I sincerely doubt they would drop the lion’s share of their customers.

They’ve always played things close to the chest with regards to road maps, partially to avoid the internet hate machine response if things don’t go as planned.

We do know 3.0 is coming in the not distant future with what is touted as the largest overhaul to date.

One thing that might help is if pertinent social media posts from all venues had a posting here to keep everyone informed. Some bits and pieces come out on Twitter, others are streamed, ect… While keeping it spread hypothetically improved the numbers on all of those sites for analytics, it doesn’t exactly make for an informed audience. At least a stickied links section for pertinent media would be appreciated.

Why would you think console has an end in sight? Funcom literally just released a new game mechanic including consoles, and have also announced that update 3.0 is bringing big changes…? Why would Funcom invest company money like that only to abandon consoles?

Because there is not a concrete roadmap. They are not saying the sky is falling, but they just want to know if there is stuff coming to renew thier vigor, or can they start thinking of moving on themselves. A legit question. Playing close to the vest is great for surprise patches/updates, but if the audience isn’t around to enjoy it, you wasted the surprise and effort of the update.

It’s a difficult situation. It’s understandable why players want the information - like you say, they want to know new stuff is coming. But it’s also understandable why Funcom doesn’t want to provide a roadmap (even a vague one) - because then players assume it’s concrete and make demands if things can’t be achieved.

In terms of new content - the interview on Pixelcave’s channel did make pretty clear there’s more coming - so maybe we can take that as encouraging - obviously they didn’t suggest much about what form it will take, but it seemed pretty clear there will be more, so hopefully we can take that as a good sign.

I agree, nothing concrete. But they can say if it dlc oriented, Building oriented, pve oriented, pvp oriented, or raid oriented (a long shot on this one tbh). Something along those terms helps people understand what the focus is on.

Yeah - that’s definitely one thing that ‘there will be more events’ really doesn’t cover, and I can see why people would want something along those lines. I tend not to worry about will the future be ‘building oriented, pve oriented, pvp oriented’ etc, because I think the evidence is that they will continue to try to do all of those (and probably won’t completely satisfy any group as a result…).

If I understand what you mean by ‘raid’ (and I think I’m finally beginning to - it’s like pvp 24-7, but with offline protection to ensure people have to actually fight and raid each other properly instead of just waiting till their opponent goes to bed/work - is that about right?) - then that is harder to be sure about. I can see how the way things have worked till now (and still many changes) don’t really seem to support that game style. Hopefully maybe some of the changes being implemented - maybe even the way TOS are now being enforced - might hint towards some support that way in future. But without some sort of direct acknowledgement of the play style I can see why it would be hard to have confidence they will go that way.

The reality is this, FunCom made Conan Exiles, they released Dlc of which they never had to do. Many game companies, release a game with no intentions of updating, fixing or releasing dlc and that’s just life. You play it, you finish it and move on. Funcom can and I’m sure certainly have the right to move on and leave us guessing forever or until we put the cd back in it’s box and shelf it until the next title drops… Or doesn’t.

Yes, thats within their rights. But as everyone pointed out already, they aren’t going to be doing that anytime soon. We already know there will be a 3.0 update in the future, and we are currently at version 2.7.

Funcom has supported PC and console versions since 2018. They aren’t going to suddenly drop that support for console only.

Especially true given that they so recently mentioned that console players make up over half of the player base.

the foreseeable future…
one of the greatest fantasies of the human being in his ultimate desire for comfort.
I can’t speak for them, but I can give you my point of view, it seems to me that the road map has been established over the long term…so creating a future that already seems reassuring to me.
