🚨 Has Funcom Abandoned Conan Exiles on Console?

It’s been over 7 months since the last Age dropped, and the silence is starting to say a lot. Conan Exiles was supposed to get a new Age every 6 months, but here we are—still waiting with nothing but radio silence.

Meanwhile, some of the most basic issues still haven’t been addressed:
• The server player list is still bugged—you can’t even see who’s online half the time.
• Lag switching and booting are rampant, and nothing seems to be done about it.
• Server lag is out of control, on nearly every official server I’ve tried.

And console players? We’re left behind.
• No proximity chat—PC has had it for years.
• PC constantly gets better features, updates, and support.
• The performance and quality gap between platforms is getting ridiculous.

It’s starting to feel like Funcom just doesn’t care anymore, especially about the console community. The potential of Conan Exiles is huge, but it’s being wasted by a team that doesn’t seem to prioritize fixing key issues or delivering on their promises. We deserve better communication, better support, and actual fixes.

Step up, Funcom. Take care of your game—or at least tell us what’s going on.

They’ve put a pause on all new content to focus on bug fixes. No idea if new content will continue once Dune is in a good place and they’ve ironed out more bugs in Conan. I’m not as pessimistic as some around here, but I have my doubts when it comes to Conan getting new content. Hope to be proven wrong.

That said, I’ve long been disappointed with how Funcom treats their console players. From PS5 never getting a next gen update to Xbox not getting some of the patches/hotfixes. Hopefully the Dune console ports fair better.

The lack of communication around here lately is pretty frustrating. I’m happy Dune has been such a great success, but no word on the next big bug fix patch for Conan and they’ve stopped acknowledging bugs here as well. They could at least come out and say something.

The game is over 7 years old, Conan Exiles was never intended to be a Live Service game. I’m surprised developer support has lasted as long as it has. Xbox not getting a few hotfixes / updates is most likely due to certification standards.

Good morning .
It has been already more than a month since the devs are no longer worth reading bug reports or even coming to this forum (Funcom’s official organ).
If this does not tell you that for Funcom Conan Exile is dead, I don’t know what to do.
Dune Anawakin has been released, he has been generating more customers than Conan since his released in 2019, so there is a man may be that Funcom continues to support Conan.

For years, we passionate about Conan exiles in vain to make sure that Funcom improves Conan Exile and repairs the bugs (certainly present since 2019) and each time we have been entitled to : " We have understood your requests, we have learned from our error, we will in the future more communicate, we are going to be more reactive " .

Each time this was in the words in the air, of the wind. I play a console and I am at herself to see the state of the game on this support, they sold us dreams to ultimately spit in the face.

  • Bug a repetition
  • lack of optimization
  • cardboard server
  • Decisions taken by devs that break the game
  • untimely nerve , etc, etc

There is neither to see the follow -up of other FunCom licenses to understand, promises, only promises, abandoned games, Conan does not hope for the FunCom rule " I have your money, now go play without ralling and continuous to feed us with your money " .

The saddest in all this is Conan Exile who saved Funcom from bankruptcy, because the lack of follow -up and serious of this company led Funcom to bankruptcy but in the place of understanding their mistakes and improved, to make Conan Exile (their Savior) a perfect game, they continue in their mismanagement and we destroy the can the reputation they had.

But it is now and so where is the support? Basically you are saying they flat out lied when they transitioned to “live service game” knowing full well their launch year daily hotfixes would be catastrophic to anyone trying to maintain an update schedule or add new content.

Still deserves some research as if that was the case.

Server lag is mainly caused by synchronization with the main physics engine.

As for chat, we have better tools and safer tools. Try out VR headsets and see if you find one that is comfortable. Report it here and someone like me will take a look.

The more I think about this statement the more I get ticked. They did lie. I didn’t see it at the time but the were lying through their teeth. We all knew CE’s foundation was on a dated UE 4.0 and they have statement multiple times there was not going to be an update to that…and then they declared they are a live service game? On an outdated engine? MF!

That isn’t called lying any more, it sounds bad when some one says it about your party in the news, now it’s misinformation, to make it sound like some one might be wrong rather then lying to US.

So never. Okay, they abandoned it then

You realized that now that Funcom is lying? xD

Funcom used to outsource their middleware (the process of converting updates on the PC version to the console versions). There was a kerfuffle some years ago and they broke company with that middleware provider.

This one has heard that they have a new middleware company, but this one cannot hard confirm.
That said, PStato is on about the same update as PC.
The recent missed updates failed to pass XBoX certification on that platform.

If the game is abandoned (this one is not at all saying it hasn’t been abandoned, but it’s impossible to say during the Felles Ferie, which is basically the month long period during which Norway doesn’t work and historically Funcom, based in Oslo, has gone silent for all of July) it is not just abandoned on Consoles, but in it’s entirety.

July is a bad month to judge tho.
July is always dead for updates and this one is glad we don’t get updates in late June, just in time to be broken for their month off, as was so often the case in years past.

does not matter if they break something or not, it can take years for then to fix, and they will usually look else where as a band of incompetent who makes decisions wihtout thinking ahead …
this is an undeniably truth.

look at what they did with their idiotic living settlement ? dropped the bomb, poop all over the place and ran.

The part that annoys this one the most about Dying settlements was that they knew it was broken before release. Released it anyway. (So far standard Funcom operating procedure) Saw it was feces. Deactivated it (rare miracle providing false hope)…
Then decided to reactivate it and leave it running for months, gleefully deleting followers the whole time, unconcerned that this was likewise deleting (causing to leave the game) players new and old.
They had flushed the poop down the drain, then deliberately dragged it back out of the sewer to let it sit in the bowl stinking for months.

One shouldn’t drag know to be stinking trash back out of the dumpster and throw it back into a living room that they expect to remain populated.

They don’t. And it’s not just the console community. Consoles have it worse, yeah, but Funcom clearly abandoned Conan Exiles. The only thing they haven’t abandoned is the pretense that they care, but even that pretense has grown so thin that it’s basically transparent. And that’s pretty much the only transparency you’ll get from them.

They won’t.

They won’t.

They still do minor changes on the game unannounced. I could say fixes but they are not, because when one minor is corrected 2 minors or one major is defected again.
And no, i won’t go in to the trouble to remember these minor changes. We are players playing every day or two and it’s easy to understand the small changes only if our playstyle is referred to these small changes. When i log in on Monday and i see “this” and Wednesday “this” has become “that”, then it’s something to easily notice.
Yet i know that something is ruined too and unfortunately what’s ruined cannot stay hidden.
So are we abandoned?
Not totally, but we’re getting there.

Most of the testers, including me, all but begged them not to release the update as it was. I know they improved/changed some things between testing and release but it barely scratched the surface of the disaster AoH and Living Settlements are.

Running off memory fumes here but I think it took 28 days of bumping, sharing, commenting and general engagement multiple times per day to appeal to shut off LS again.

Tell me about it.
I was very very leary of the patch even going live to begin with because of the scope of what it did and how many options were going to be missing when it launched that should have been there with it.
Such as being able to keep thralls from using doors or using certain pieces of furniture…
But we all know how that ended up, we will add or fix it later and now it’s completely turned off.

It was a disaster i think many of us saw coming a mile away, but in true and never changing fashion of the industry of course it launched feature incomplete and to top things off was full of even more bugs than i think we could have anticipated and i am including the making of old bugs even worse due to code run off into other parts of the programming.

I check back here from time to time, but i have yet to see any mentions of twitch drops or even another patch.
I think many of us did kind of figure Dune would have caused this but people said they were two different teams, but it really doesn’t look like that after all.

I am not trying to dis the devs of course here, they get paid to do a job and deliver a product according to management’s time tables, but it doesn’t help when you see this stuff happen time and time again not only for one company but across the whole dang industry.

Modders are the only ones keeping this game relevant, new maps, better features…like seriously, logical QoL improvements. The list of failures by the management goes on and on. I have more hours than I like to admit on both console and pc. I keep my official builds active because I like the game and seeing the creativity of the community but, I have an infinite distain for the substandard care of the Conan IP. They are using it as cash cow at this point. Sadly, Dune is their newer, shinier meal ticket…just wait, the MTX’s will flood the sands there soon enough and ill still be wondering if xbox will get an update…
