Armor seems to have got a very visible buff since the update. Perhaps you can upgrade your thralls’ armor?
I think that the instant level 20 that the Commander provided was way too excessive.
On from that point, though, I do think that there could definitely be some more activities to make leveling thralls a little faster than what is currently available. No huge change, but something a bit more effective.
If the game provides a normal upgrade place and system, then I am willing to slowly take the thrall to conquer the world.
However, with this ineffective system, the thrall will not take the initiative to attack, and even the 20th level thrall will be easily killed, don’t say that, the thrall are less than level 10.
The whole leveling system is a screw up. At this point, thralls aren’t interesting. One of the distinctive features of this game has been systematically pounded until it became what it is today.
Why don’t we get more freedom in how our thralls develop? I’ve been playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the way we develop p4wns there is just great.
We have one and can hire two more from other players. Their AI works. They are lively, albeit repetitive. They fight, support you, etc and it works very well. They aren’t burdens to the player. They don’t substitute the player either. Conan Exiles devs could take some inspiration from that game.
In CE, thralls are glorified armor displays, presently.
On DD2, another feature I like and that we have been asking here for years is the ability to customize thralls. On DD2you can customize them to an extent I never saw before in any game. You also choose their main personality trait and this affects how they intereact with you and what they do autonomously. It’s really fun. Then you define thrir class. Will they be fighters, thieves, mages, etc? Whatever complements your playstyle better.
Let me just show you my “thrall” there.
I think she looks good, fights well and even gives me a cool high five when we do well in battle.
So that you see how much you can tweak their appearance, this is the base head from where I started.
They need to increase their leashes. Otherwise they teleport to you after you move away more than a certain distance, @erjoh .
If that is corrected, problem solved.
I provided top-notch equipment and weapons, but the thrall has no attack capability, it still directly causes the death , even if they are already level 20 .
This is not normal anymore, can you imagine how hard it will be to upgrade a thrall to level 20? but he was easily killed, and this time was completely in vain.
Commander Bakt-Nimlot (with high experience points) only saves practice time and makes us less painful.
I’d also love it if my fighting thralls weren’t drooling idiots.
Can I have both?
In fact, my current two thralls-in-training have performed well above expectations. They’re actively aggressive, perform combos well, and don’t take too many smoke breaks during a prolonged conflict.
I wonder if it’s once again dependent on server load, ie. less load means more processing power to run thralls.
Yes the server load affects thralls performance, BUT it affects the hostile mobs in the same way though, so it’s not like it only ruins your thralls, just ruins pve in general. On my private dedicated where I play solo all the mobs and thralls are aggressive and while their pathing and AI is bad, they can perform as well as is possible with CE’s code, they are fully predictable and manageable (definitely not always fun, but the game is what it is).
Now, when playing online, potentially on modded servers, with other players? Oh boy, I simply don’t use thralls for combat there.
It’s pointless, even a decked out berzerker will not be effective compared to a player when the AI is constantly pausing or running in the opposite direction. And since mobs are affected too it’s really easy for the player to kill anything, even with a stupidly high ping in the 200-300 range (a ping that is caused by the server CPU load, not networking: I can still ping the server’s ip address at 20ms even when it says 300ms in the game). Who needs thralls when the mobs can’t even fight back?
But the solution to that isn’t to give the thrall god tier stats (honestly they already are super strong stats wise), it’s to improve the game code (for the devs to do) OR play on servers with good hardware and a tiny player count.
Yes. I ran them through a pretty busy Maelstrom, and their performance was just fine. Same with some Accursed camps while I was testing why the accursed Accursed have suddenly become so tough. Two thralls, and both are participating actively in crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me and hearing the lamentation of their women.
Mind you, this is Single-Player on a decent, if not excellent, gaming rig. That’s why I believe it’s the quality (or lack thereof) of the servers that turns them into idiots.
I tried to level two other thralls and really, it’s so slow… especially considering the end result.
Commander Bakt-Nimlot at least was a risky alternate way to level them quickly (and it’s even more true when leveling pets).
It’s just a chore at this point and unless there’s a massive revamp on both thralls and pets, restoring the high xp from Commander Bakt-Nimlot is a quick way to aleviate this problematic part of the game.
