Please stop the big whining!

There is a difference between being called out, and having people spend hours complaining.

Honestly it seems like a couple of people in here have spent more time the last couple of days complaining about the time they have lost, then the time they lost.

The top of funcom does not give a flying ass about how much you spam complaints here, after a certain point the only thing the whining accomplishes is removing what little motivating the people at the company, who still cares about the game, has.

What you are doing is in no way productive for what you want to accomplish. If you want to see change make your initial opinion heard and then go play and spend money on another game which you feel deserves it.

Your misconception might be that i’m trying to achieve something here. I have no goals with my comments. I’m just expressing discontent here, because this is the place to do it.

For me personally, i don’t need anyone to read it or care, i just feel the need to voice it publicly, because i certainly feel that i’ve been wronged by this company. I also feel their apology was insufficient. Words and a minor time savings through double gather rates. Which aren’t even implemented yet on my server… in spite of there being a Funcom post saying “Later today”, yet “today” passed a number of hours ago.

“experience gained, gathering speed, and the thrall & pets conversion rate by updating the following server settings later today through next Monday, September 11th:”, to quote the FC post.

So no, staying on them, when they’re continually failing. That’s certainly justified.

As for playing other games, i’ve been playing Starfield since these problems started. I’ll come back to Conan once they iron this out, i wont spend money with them anymore, they’ve burned that bridge with me.

Nearby buildings convey their timers to placeables nearby.

The great thing about games is that you can take breaks when you feel like it. Then come back when you feel like it. I’ve played Conan Exiles since 2018, but it doesn’t mean I’ve played it non-stop. I’ve taken breaks of several months in between. And that’s fine.

Absolutely, i let my bases decay when i leave also, because i enjoy restarting more than i enjoy having the mega-builds.

It doesn’t change the impact of deleting 20 hours of ones progress though, that feels bad regardless.

It does. I can totally understand the frustration. That’s why I’m not telling people not to complain. They have every right to be upset and demand compensation.

But everything in moderation, right? It’s not worth bursting blood vessels or getting ulcers. At the end of the day, it’s a game. Our house didn’t burn down, and our real-life friends and relatives didn’t die or abandon us.

And I’m saying this as a person who once lost over 300 hours of progress in Conan Exiles because of my own screw-up. Yes, it was bloody annoying. But I got over it.

Oh don’t get me wrong lol, i’m not angry… at all. I like to put some sting on my words when i want to convey a point, specifically when all i see is in-fighting, and noone looking in the right direction.

–edit–

To add, i was playing funcom games with Anarchy Online, and i had thousands of hours in that aswell. Also a great game in its day. I remember selling/farming concrete cushions with friends to get into a yalm at level 14, then just min-maxing the whole way.

I don’t hate Funcom, but they’re doing badly right now.

TLDR; While this one appreciates the candor and restraint of your position, this one respectfully disagrees.

To be entirely fair, expressing (with varying levels of civility and reason) displeasure is one of the primary functions of these forums, and the Internet in general.

It’s a stressful situation and there is very little recourse for those who feel they’ve been thrown under the bus for the sake of someone else’s dollhouse that the bus driver themselves threw out.
The internet provides a magnifying glass that makes all molehills into mountain ranges. It also provides a bullhorn for every idea, enlightened or inane.

In the short term, this one feels a little digital pugilism will be good. On the off chance that it helps people get the knot out of their intestines. This, of course, assumes sincerity.

Otherwise, trolls gonna troll and this one isn’t saying the forum is a Trollercoaster at times… But this one would not deny it either. And we all know this forum reeks of used socks hastily applied to hands as a means of manifesting multitude far too often.

The forums, a meta discussion around a video game, are no more serious business than their topics. Which is to say, getting too wrapped up in them is unhealthy.

Some times it will be sunny.
Unavoidable
We cannot be blessed with rain and storms every day.
The same is true of digital environs, sometimes they are tranquil, even erudite, other times… well, any opportunity to be our best selves is also an opportunity to be our worst selves.

So, while this one will happily engage in some very vitriolic exchanges with ideas they find reprehensible… they do not advocate for, or support the silencing of, those positions. At least not any position relevant to this game.

As for satisfaction.
This one is never satisfied.
This one would only wish satisfaction on a persistent and annoying enemy. One who would be better off removed from the picture. Let them be satisfied so that they may take the next step and become complacent. Let complacency rot their ambition and leave them content with far less than they could have. Let them render themselves impotent and irrelevant.
How can this one expect others to be what this one refuses to?

So, in short…
Ah yes
TLDR; While this one appreciates the candor and restraint of your position, this one respectfully disagrees.

Was there a way to check for the Nemedian bug? It only affected existing structures being updated so if there weren’t any existing structures, there would not be any notice of the bug. I played on beta quite a bit and didn’t see this because I tested changes made and started a new character to see how things played from the start.

Junge junge! Big time drama here:fries::beer:

Load a previous game.db from your regular game install.

Good try, Funcom, relog now.

I think it is clear now. The grateful are happy and the ungrateful whine and do not want to stop because they are never satisfied.
There are two camps and I think this will always remain so.

Pardon me? If the devs would try to do the right thing the game wouldn´t be in the bad shape it is.

Alone for the mutulation of the stamina system Dennis would deserve a real spank. Changing nemedian foundations and no communication first. Another one. Setting thralls decay timer to 1 and nobody in the office noticed it? You would need a whole set of paddles for this guys just to make them realize their mistakes.

Since Age of Soccery we have not seen any update that has gone smooth and most people now throw money on them regularely. So no excuses can be made in regards to lack of financing this game anymore.

Before i start, welcome the community m8 .

Funcom have made lots of decisions through the years, the ones that were affected positive praised them, the ones that affected negative placed their complains because its their absolute right to do so. We must never forget that we wouldn’t have this conversation if we didn’t have “mistakes” at the first place. But it’s only human to do mistakes and accept the consequences.
We cannot blame human errors, it’s not right and we wish the employee that did this mistake still works in this company. Other than that professional mistakes are “experience”. I don’t think it will happen twice, at least i wish .

Totally untrue, sorry. There are posts that have exceed frustration and some go over lines, but it’s not only the “other side” to blame here, but both sides. We create these sides saying that “mine is bigger than yours”.
We shouldn’t! The ones who lost, lost for others to gain and no matter what, this is unfair too. So we should be at least gentle and supportive to the ones who lost, it’s the proper thing to do!

Above all. We create sides and it’s only on our hand not to have sides. Million times said, no matter the language, we are all lovers of this game!

I complain because i hate to watch my all-time favorite game being destroyed by the day. I play (though not to the same extent as in the good days few years back) because i have to know how the changes impact gameplay before i complain. And if i see that the game has gone down the toilet, of course i mention about it as often as i can in the hopes that there would be as much of discussion as possible about the nonsense changes the game has gone through in the past few years. I know it’s futile since Funcom won’t do anything about it, but still.

I don’t believe breaking Nemedian foundations was intentional, nor was the thrall decay timer error. Bugs are not examples of devs not trying to do the right thing, they’re examples of everyone making mistakes.

And let’s be honest: no update since prehistory has gone smooth, but I also think that you’re vastly overestimating the amount of money people throw at Funcom. I don’t have the numbers, and neither do you, but I doubt the Bazaar is making Funcom rich.

It was. They changed it so nemedian foundations rotate in a certain direction while they get placed. Simple logic tells you that this can and most likely will effect existing building pieces. And had they communicated this before the update, people would have had enough time to prepare and replace their foundations or pick their workbenchens, thralls etc up before the update hits live. People didn´t had to loose everything but they did. And this is pur Funcom´s fault.

It doesn´t matter if they intentionally break things or not. It their responsibility to make sure to check and double check their updates properly before they go live. And the same goes for changing things like decay timer. Their internal structures are chaotic and messy. And this is greately reflecting their updates.

Everybody knows that bugs in games can happen, regardless of how thorough you are. But thats not what we are talking about here.

The player is the one who pays for Funcom’s sloppiness, every time. And every time they apologize without there being any real changes afterwards. On the contrary. It happens over and over again. Sloppy mistake, apologize, xp and gather rates raised for a couple of days on officials, rinse and repeat. And that is inexcusable.

I can already see it…

Funcom Announcement: Due to a recent bug, nearby buildings not longer convey their timers to placeables nearby. This should be fixed next patch, or when we get back from the weekend.

At this point, its better to simply say they lost their backups in a storm and wipe everything.
