Yep you are right. It was with a katana…so lower that max down.
Oh, good good!! For a second there I thought you know some other secret weapon that I missed and I was getting all curious
And that’s the problem I experienced. I am self-fulfilling assumption when I worry about stacking the effects…I start playing that way to maximize the effects over just taking the beast down. I am like easily 30 seconds shorter when I just go in and start fighting without the effects because I am not calculating the stacking and all that crap…just go for the kill. It comes down to more time management in this case because are you spending your time trying to stack crap or trying to take him down. They are different strategies and if you are focused on stacking the effects instead of applying your own DPS, you are doing a disservice to your kill times.
As far as thunderfoot goes…I don’t bother with it. I can literally count on one hand the number of times I took on the thing over the years. The thing is easy to avoid, has no benefit outside of challenge completion for the kill. I put it up there with arena champ…just something to brag about the challenge and blah blah blah. (this is where my PVP side comes out more…if the reward doesn’t warrant the time, F it) I mean its literally surrounded by other elephants and it’s not like there isn’t 2 significantly easier monster crocs without a square or two away to collect skelekeys…I just don’t see the reason to waste my game time on it. Most of my experimentation is on the red mom…Actually this conversation reminds me of another VDL vid
I’m a real situation, poison doesn’t just wear off in a matter of seconds.
So considering this is a game and the way it is designed, it’s perfectly reasonable to request an easier means to apply poisons.
touche’
Oh yea I know that one
And sure, some of that is a fair point… plus it can even be counter-productive to some degree… I’m pretty sure we all got punished once or twice for ignorantly trying to refresh that sunder or poison stack on the target when we knew better that we shouldn’t
But I still have to agree that the current poison mechanic is idk… just not what I personally would put there for the users of a game… it just feels very off. And the duration of both the effect on the target and the poison on the weapon… it kinda feels like they were deliberately trying to go for the “bad” values
Even what you said above sort of supports this… it’s too gimmicky in its current iteration to bother with for PvE at least and you’ll just end up wasting a bunch of time and it’s another chore to keep track of it during a fight. What I’m trying to say is that it’s not really… fun… to use.
That’s why I think simply prolonging the effect to where you can “prepare” prior to a fight and that application will last throughout most of a proper boss fight. Then you either “prepared” or not… but when you’re fighting you don’t have to micromanage it and you do get that tiny bit of bonus if you didn’t forget to apply it, but at the same time it’s still doesn’t become something fully automated.
I think in that context a lot more people would use poisons and even bother to get the “fancy” one even if it costs more glands to produce.
But again, not too bothered, these are just sudden ideas as I was reading this
IMHO, poison shouldn’t be a single effect. It’s an alchemical practice to stack 1-3 (like most things in this game…3 levels) effects onto your weapons. Your alchemical knowledge advances and you can make greater and greater poisons that can have multiple effects (sunder, cripple, bleed, drunk, heated, chilled, corruption, etc)
I want to point out that I am in total agreement with you erjoh about not wanting to bother taking a long time preparing and stacking buffs. Its just not fun to do (like Xevyr says).
Using poison on a hotbar wouldn’t be something along the lines of stacking as it would just be another button I can thumb press while fighting. I personally use a MMO style mouse with 12 thumb buttons arranged in a 3x4 grid. This controls my hotbar and many other functions. I only use my left hand for movement (running, jumping, and sprinting). The right hand handles all actions such as attacks, blocks, specials, and hotbar. It would be a really great QoL to be able to use those poisons on the hotbar.
Course I wouldn’t mind some of the suggestions you two have made thusfar either.
Making poison usable from hotbar would be great.
Suggestion: Age of Alchemists. Give us new potions, oils and poisons, and make them easy to use to celebrate that. E. g.:
- a potion that makes you larger,
- a potion that makes you smaller,
- a potion that does nothing at all, because Funcom.
No, seriously, just make poisons usable from hotbar.
