Poll - Bazzar and my Thoughts

Run you maybe

The company has done it’s self little good with recent policies either.

Wow, this topic sure does the rounds quite a bit - and it should, though ‘polls’ are way too skewed and way too open to ‘shaping’ to be relevant.

Before buying anything in additional bonus content to ANY game you own, it would be recommended to go back and check how much you originally paid for the game, how much it is currently listed at, and then how much any added content costs, whether it’s cosmetic (as in Bazaar) or some enhancement (pay to win as in other games) [the Bazaar items are re-skins and always have some representative in the core game]. Then you look at how many hours you have played in the game - with some basic math you can see very quickly how much the cost has been based on play-hours.

I personally think that much of the Bazaar items were purely added for the PvE and Roleplay players out there - and obviously to replace the old DLC bundle packs. They do not really benefit PvP players, but dang, the new stuff does look pretty, so gives more to clan players, etc.

Before people rip into the above, also remember that Funcom also release a lot of content via the different Challenge and Journey options. These cost nothing and can even be completed in Solo and carried over to any PvP. PvE, etc after that. So players can certainly get a ton of new stuff for free, in spite of the hours ($$$) the devs have put into making and dupporting the stuff.

Like many/all games out there, ANY new content requiring development will costs money. Most games either stop releasing content after a period of time before rebranding and re-releasing a game as another version and at a new full charge. Some. like Funcom, go for buying specific game-curency that locks players into their platform (crom coins) and then price their content so it’s extremely hard to use the full balance, creating a casino-like purchase loop loyalty program. This ain’t new. It’s irritating, but it ain’t new.

Just remember, no-one is forced to buy Crom-coins. All Bazaar items are re-skins and just enhance the look of gameplay. You get free content through Journeys. If you paid for the original Crom Coins you always get that full amount back by completing the Challenges and can rinse and repeat ad infinitum,. If you are a Builder then you have the option to buy Crom Coins in the (annoying) bundles and you can make pretty bases (that can still be bombed normally).
Vote with your feet. Buy or don’t buy.

I have bought some Crom-coins and have bought some new build pieces and junk. My choice. I don’t like that I still have off amounts of Crom-coins left over, but then I still have some junk coins I traded out when I visited Los Vegas years back, and I still have some ‘loyalty vouchers’ from some ‘plague’-killed high-street chain in London.

I’ve played over 9k hours of this dratted, cursed game so I can safely say I have got some money’s worth out of it. (happily some maniacs have over 10k hours in-game so I’m at least not There yet!

The prices are ridiculous seeing what the build sets for example contain. The old DLC sets contain armor, weapons, animal skins, full build sets, decoratives and whatnot and they are roughly the same price. Some decorative skins in the bazaar are even more expensive and it’s just sad.

Ta hell ya say. A reskin is simply new textures. Many of the battle pass and bazaar items are new meshes, so NOT reskins. Are there equivalent items? Not all the time when it comes to cosmetics. But weapons and armors should have a free in game equivalency; which seems to be an issue right now.

I base my pricing standard on the DLCs. There is just no way A set of armor should cost as much as entire DLC. 10%? Sure. If its a full set as in 1 each weight{?} meaning 3, 25-30%
Two thirds of an actual building set? 1/3 the DLC cost.

Now what they charge for shineis I don’t give flying fornication about, I’m not much in to decorations.

Like the newest build set wasn’t made to fortify against raids.

What would benefit PVP players that wouldn’t set this forum on fire with P2W threads?

Journey steps are per server, no carry over from single player. And a few are well worth the effort.

:man_facepalming: No they are not.

I bought the first battle pass. Have not spent another crom. I have more then enough for the next battle pass. I could drop some croms in the bazaar and still have enough for the next pass. I could buy the next battle pass, then spend all the left over croms knowing I’ll have enough by the end to buy the next battle pass. But…

I wont even spend funcom’s croms in the bazaar.

Multiple reasons not to support it. Pricing is just one.

The prices are high. But it’s the basic rule of the market: if enough people are willing to pay, then that’s the fair price! I’ve always enjoyed experiencing everything the game has to offer: I bought all the DLCs upon release (except for what I consider the weirdest thing in the game, Siptah, which I hesitated to buy but ended up purchasing just to get the DLC armors, although I never even set foot on the island). When the Bazaar was announced, I got worried because I knew I’d want to buy ALL the items: armors, weapons, paintings, emotes, etc… All of them! When I saw the prices, I got really upset because it would be impossible to buy everything. I struggled at first. When I realized it would be impossible to buy everything, it didn’t matter to me whether I had a few items here and there or none at all. If the items were truly affordable, Funcom would have surely taken a lot of my $$$, as I was really eager to buy the new items. But now, for me, the Bazaar items are just making the game heavier, causing more bugs, and making me less excited to play a game where I can’t have the complete experience.

It is not at all necessary that this money will go to the development of CE. Most likely, they will go not to CE, but to Dune, because Dune is now the company’s priority.

Good for you!

Are the prices fair?
Let’s leave that aside for awhile.

This one finds the prices a bit high for what is offered.

Especially so given how often the items are janky or bugged.
Which is really a core gripe. The premium content is often released in a bugged state, sometimes.not even including the components shown. Pretty, yes, but unpolished, unfinished, and honestly, untrustworthy.

Then, going back to fair, but ignoring the price component… What can be seen before purchase is bad, very bad. No indication of dye channels for outfits. No notation of “unique” snap locations or build restrictions for construction pieces. How big is a “small” tree?
Funcom, rather than including a useful UI in the Shop, has decided to rely on their streaming/YouTube community. Which, while good for the content creators, is extremely disingenuous to the customer who may not want to open a separate program just to find out what they are buying.

Nothing to really be done about it, because they hired (or were gifted from their masters) a monetization expert. If players don’t buy Chrome Coins, the game sunsets at Dune’s launch. If payers do buy Chrome Coins, the system continues as is with the “expert” patting themselves on the back.

In short, the game has gone into Profit mode rather than Growth mode. In this leg of the product’s lifespan, there is no meaningful effort to attract new customers or even expand the property. Instead, production focuses on maintaining income from the existing base until that dries up.

There’s so much wrong with the bazaar. If they need to increase prices to keep developing the game, fine. But the game keeps breaking, fluff keeps being added, and as we have learned: We don’t actually own any of the bazaar stuff. If the live service goes down, you will no longer have permission to wear that $18 armor you bought with fake money. It doesn’t feel good, and I no longer have an urge to buy anything.

This a good point it has also put me off buying , as you said if funcom goes down you will be unable to use what you paid for, where the DLC you can use at will

With all do respect but the one who bought an item has the absolute right for criticism!
So when i buy an item, for example the maze plantation and they don’t work as fences allow me to be disappointed and feel many negative feelings which includes over prising!
Then again, Aesir blacksmith bench tier 1 what a fiasco again.
Over 60% of my boughts from bazaar end up in disappointment mostly because they were overcharged and didn’t cover expectations.
With this “start” , for how long you thing people will keep funding? Oh yea i am a fun boy and that’s why i leave it be many time, i say to my self, ok, i helped the cause. But i would like to see improvement to all the areas of bazaar items, because 60% disappointment is no good. That’s my feedback!

1: Bazaar prices are too high they need to come down at least 25%.
2: Bazaar items need to come with a guarantee to work.
3: Bazaar items need to be croms refundable if the buyer isn’t satisfied. Like #2 fails.
4: Bazaar items need good sales screen caps.
5: Bazaar items shown in game need to be sale/new items only, with all items; to date, available for full price in following pages of the bazaar.

I’m not sure whom decided on the store pricing but they have managed to exclude a large segment of the player base. Or are least that is the way I see it. I’d like to think most people here will agree pricing is the one thing keeping them from shopping at the bazaar.

But lately funcom has done a good job of pushing that to #3 for me. No refunds, and misleading adds are 1 and 2 now.

There is a lot to consider here.
First of all we players need to understand that Funcom has staff to pay and property to maintain to stay in business and since Funcom is one of the more innovative and honest studios it would be a shame to loose them, so funneling some money to the studio is absolutely fine with me!
I own the limited box of Conan Unchained as well as a preorder of Secret Society which I still consider one of the most innovative games of the last two decades - to bad Funcom had to make Secret Society ultra-hardcore with quests that normal people can’t finish.
As for the battlepass I’m totally fine with that but will post an idea in generall discussion.
As for the bazar: I have no issue spending some hard earned money on that, however think that prices are indeed rediculous, especially considering that WE don’t even own what we buy and by terms of use don’t even have a right to demand certain items to stay in the game - and THAT’S why prices are way to high!
The argument to vote with your wallet is bullcrap because - see first argument: staff to pay, property to maintain, content to develop - which all requieres MONEY. Money that can’t exist if everyone is playing Conan Exiles for free. If you payed for the basic game and just play that content, fair enough. But you can’t expect new content without funneling some money to the company but without new content the game will die. As we have seen with a bunch of games right now.
That’s why I don’t mind the introduction of bazar and battlepass. It will keep our game alive and Funcom in business.
I also don’t mind the rotation of the bazar. Having EVERYTHING at display at all times is boring! This way it’s more exiting to check the bazar once in a while HOWEVER - two things utterly disgust me concerning the bazar:

  1. IDIOTIC fake discount prices - stop that bullshit Funcom. It is so pathethic it’s beyond words. This lame textbook marketing nonesense is an insult to our intelligence! Give the items a price and let it be.
  2. Bazar prices vs Crom Coin purchases - the deliberate method to never be able to spend all Crom Coin bought due to the price design in the bazar is also an insult to out intelligence!

Yeah, I agree its a business after all, However there a lot of ways to earn money and lets be honest Funcom is investing in new games more, while their system for Conan is “annoying” to say the least for most of the community.

Some people back in the dlc “Age” might have desagree with the system but this new Baazar thing just banded all of us together with the same disatisfied feeling.

I dont agree here, didnt play till Chapter 3 Age of Sorcery and would like to know which stuff im missing, had to google it but the search is time consuming since the wiki doesnt have pictures xD.

Totally agree and some prices should be adjusted, ex the maze near the same price the aesir fortification set.

Totally agree, I think they would earn more money and made us happy just by making prices more accesible for everyone. As said overthere my point of comparison is with steam price games and usually with the same money I can buy a whole new game…
