So is this an official post?

If so when will the age of sorcery fighting style will be implemented back into the game?

It is 89% that voted yes at the time of this post

So this combat issue is on PC? I haven’t noticed anything on PS5.

Pray real hard, make some sacrifices and maybe the 19th?

If effected us as well but not to the same extent. You will probably notice that you over shoot your combos now if you don’t use your sticks to adjust the direction of attack. But it’s a minor thing compared to KB and M folks.

They didn’t get these titles because they were Funcom defenders. Funcom hire employees for this reason.
Each Asura and @Narelle of course have a honorable mention in the game for a gazillion reasons except defending Funcom!

Here’s the issue on full display with a controller. I even pulled up the wheel mid attack to show that yes it is a Controller being used:

It affects Keyboard and Controllers both.

Not sure what we’re supposed to be seeing there @Taemien that’s a static picture

All I see is a picture where your characters facing and the camera is decoupled, however that’s the standard for controller style movement
since you have an analogue stick dedicated to both the character movement AND the camera controls which allows for precision movement of either independently as it does in pretty much every other game out there.

Now if your static picture was accompanied by controller movement input in the other direction and your character disregarded that
it would mean that you have controller style movement set to Off instead of On or Auto
which is something that nobody in their right mind would ever do when playing with a controller
it’s not even a “preference” thing, it’s just not meant for that, but yes if you do that then the same issue presents itself there as well

The only thing controller movement off is supposed to affect is what happens when you pull back on the stick. In which case the character walks backwards. But attacking should still rotate the character back to the aiming point.

Otherwise everything except for the turning without animation, is working as intended. Which I do not believe that it is.

you mean that the character turns in that direction? :joy: yea
 the “only” thing
which is what’s lacking with controller style off.

Objectively, it felt really quite good.

I believe this combat style is a step in the right direction.

Clearly the gamestyle preferred by the dev Team is controller-style, which means the people who are resistant will eventually need to just get used to it

For now, it’s obviously jarring for experienced players. However, returning players who used to call it “Hello Kitty Barbarian Island” are feeding back that Exiles and Siptah are becoming a bit of a janky joy to play.

I wonder why I feel they are defending Funcom.

I haven’t been on the forum in a long time. Chosen of Asura to me seems to be given to the person that shills for them the best. These Post look like it is the same.

When objectively a majority of players on mouse and keyboard hate the new combat, saying to bad get used to it losers, Controllers for life
 is shilling in my books.

So given as I have seen similar stuff from people with that “title” since like 2018, I’ll continue to not trust the opinions of those with it, and instead look at the opinions of others. They can have any opinion the like. It is their choice obviously but if someone has that title I don’t see their opinion as being trust worthy given my experience with it. That includes Crom whose opinions are the exact oppisite it seems from Barnes
but that title means I look at others to see what people really think.

@Barnes has been critical of FC many times. However the reason he is respected in these parts is his ability to be objective and one of the things he has always promoted was trying out the new stuff first before reacting. Since I’m console, I am mostly neutral to what’s going on as it’s not affecting me significantly but Barnes suggestion of starting a new character and playing from scratch is very sound because that is what a new player will do.

Now the rest of the children of A have been very critical of FC in the not so distant past. Many were disenchanted with the new revenue model while others disliked the attribute system. Most don’t like AoW that I have taken notice of so “shill” isn’t a term I would use for the group. If anything they are a bunch of vets from a bygone era where the game recognized key players and content providers that helped them grow the game (kids of asura, firespark, kia) that are now slightly bitter in how the game is continuing to move more and more corporate and long for the ‘good old days’.
Some are trying to be more progressive and trying out things before going all curmudgeon.

My opinion of Barnes developed before he became the Chosen. He is one of the reasons I have the opinion I do.

You can think anything you like of him. I don’t need anyone to share my opinion of him. In fact until “Jank is good get used to it, the changes are actually good and a move in the right directions” when Jank is bad, the changes are bad and it is a move in the wrong directions for most
 I didn’t say a thing.

So a longtime hater with poor reading comprehension. What is it, Saturday again?

Constructive criticism is welcomed here, get used to it. It’s a simple courtesy!

There are 2 persons i strongly believe that they must take the next tittle of Asura.
The one is @CodeMage and the other is @SirDaveWolf.
Although @Tephra is my number 2, the above guys are both number 1 and it would be difficult for me to vote.
Asuras are players who cares for other players and better gaming, not the ones who bootlick Funcom.
My fellow exile, you just believe wrong things all these years, no problem, believe what you wish. But please don’t openly blame these persons for something they don’t do, it’s unfair.

What poor reading comprehension. Did you not say the directly quoted things you said? You directly said that you liked the new combat, you like the jank, you think it is a move in the right direction and people just have to get used to it. That isn’t a misunderstanding. That isn’t poor reading comprehension
If that isn’t what you meant then it is your poor communication.

Thankfully I found a mod to fix the issue. So I can leave again, too many people spend more time reading these forums than I do playing the game (seriously averaging 40 minutes a day every day for 5 years on a message board). And Funcom still doesn’t care about the players.

The simple fact is I have said what I have said. My opinion isn’t going to change. You are still full of yourself and there is no reason to continue on
you will feel the need to say something I’m sure
but I won’t respond further. In fact you are the reason I left the forum in the first place.

I ran out of time earlier, animals to feed and whatnot. Didn’t think it was good to edit the post above.

After testing this game for 6 years, it didn’t feel like I wanted, but it feels like how an actual combat game should feel. It doesn’t feel like we’ve got the training wheels on. I know that can be unsettling for some.

See above.

My opinion, quickly countered by @Xevyr’s, which I liked. We are open to open thought here.

Janky is their word. They always say janky. I never have, and kind of bristle at it. I like Conan Exiles, and I think it’s beginning to get its stuff in one bag, if you catch my drift. It’s getting its stuff together. Etc. Combat hasn’t been great for quite some time, and while this isn’t there yet, it sure feels pretty darn good.

I’m on my third trip to 60, each time with different weapons. I must say, it’s become fun again.

Never did.

Sure feels pretty damn bad to me.

3rd :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I’ve done that since 3.0 hit. I’ve maxed a character a dozen or more times since the game dropped.

I think I have expressed my opinion on the lethargic new battle mechanic.

That said, until I identified it to you, you were unaware of the flaw(s) Funcom is addressing with this update. A fix that faaaar outweighs any temporary pain.

Then I recommend shaking it up, letting go of some of the cobwebs. Change your gameplay to allow for auto-facing and controller-style, for example. Add a mouse binding to your life that allows you to roll and/or apply a shield. Shift it up, get into it!

Now try new weapons. You may be surprised by how much some weapons are great at what we Virtua Fighter combatants call the pain ratio. It’s great to poke poke poke, but you’ll eventually pay for it. Use the Pike to create openings for the short sword, then max a kill combo on it. You’ll be shocked by how much some “undervalued” weapons fill in the new “holes” now present in our customary weapon setups. I know change is scary, buddy, but this is supposed to be fun.

It’s neither scary nor fun.

I mean I could just skip all that and just get good at using the target lock and let the game do the hard part.
