POLL => Prices on the Black Lotus Bazaar

haven’t seen the updated Bazaar yet, but it’s interesting that the Small Cypress Tree was 250 and this one is 500, do they think the lemons justify double the price? I better be able to pick Lemons off that damn tree (just kidding, none of the new pieces are actually functional :/)

A tree that produces lemons! My god could you imagine all the P2Win posts? :joy::joy:

I’m a “benefit of the doubt” guy, I was waiting for the refresh to voat.

For 500 Croms I better be able to make juice, and huck lemons at people.

Is it pay to win or pay to lemon? :joy: when life gives you lemons.

I compare it to the DLC’s. That’s a price I’m willing to pay if I like a particular aesthetic as the DLC’s offer a plethora of building pieces, cosmetics, armor/weapon skins, etc. I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. The bulk of the stuff on the bazaar is so overpriced I’ll never bother. But it goes beyond that. The BLB prices plus the fomo battlepass just looks like an attempt to gouge players, and because of that unless things change I don’t have any intention of spending any further money on this game.

Price inconsistency is a big problem. A Tree should cost like 150 coins, Not 500! Crom Coins for a damn Lemon Tree! Armor sets should be like 800 or so.

Well if you have anything to back that up that’d be great. I know in my experience, that out of the 30 or so conan players I’ve played wtih, about 3 or 4 of us bought anything and the others just used what we made.

And I know from other games that I am a dev on that that is also the pattern for things of this nature.

There’s no reason that this is not true for Conan. Despite how you feel about it being overused and being old. Its overused simply because its logical and is the reality many people know.

No, no one has insight in their sales.
Everyone has their experience, my experience is usually the players but their own licence.

The players that didn’t buy DLC’s before don’t buy it today.
But this is also just a experience, but different from yours.

All I know and see is this is a anti consumer movement, which wasn’t there before.

I’m not against changes, I like the Bazaar and the BP (sometimes it needs a little more detail and attention though to justify the price tag…) but I don’t like crafted stuff being locked out for other players.

They should do that to the base game price so more people buy the game and they make money on dlc / battle pass/ bazar

I voted too high. I have been buying every “discounted” set they’ve offered I think save the recent dog kennel and would possibly say they were mostly reasonable. When it comes to the “undiscounted” items in the lower right corner of the bazaar, well I don’t touch those even if there are a lot of items I would like there. So in my opinion, discounted sets should probably be discounted a little bit more and non-discounted item prices should be dropped a lot, like by 50%.
But as has been mentioned, buying broken and missing items sort of kills any desire for me to continue shopping at this merchant so I really am hoping that with the holidays over Funcom gets their act together and starts paying better attention to their quality control.

Prices are High on Steam, But they are not regionalized… there is no way for a Brazilian player like me to spend on Dollars if I don’t receive on Dollars, the Epic Store version seens to be all right on regional prices! if there was the same on Steam I would have the battle pass and way more stuff spent.

Gentlemen this thread is concerned with the Black Lotus Bazaar. Server performance and population is a discussion for a separate thread. Please remain on topic.

I agree with most comments in this thread concerning the high prices in the bazaar. Funcom’s primary mistake was hiring “Monetization Experts”. This is because said experts are being paid to maximize profits not maximize product sales. If anyone noticed in my post concerning pricing before AoS released I stated that they should adopt a “Less is More” business model for the Bazaar.

First off look at your Demographic:
Age 15 - 35
Economic: Lower Middle Class
Income: 10 - 50k annually before taxes and expenses

This is the global average of most people considered “gamers”

Less is More business model is lower priced product selling in extremely high quantity.

So current business model
Example
Production cost $10k
Product price $10
Units sold 60k
Total 600k
Profit 590k

Less is More business model
Example
Production cost 10k
Product price $1
Units Sold 60m
Total 60m
Profit 59.9m

This is because with low cost it encourages impulse spending or guiltless spending where customers are hesitant to purchase a $10 item a $1 item seems harmless but before they realized it they have spent $60 on in game currency. So rather than lower the price of the items in the Bazaar lower the price of the Crom coins

This is sometimes referred to as business psychology. Know your customer give them what they want and they will give you the world. But if you rely simply on statistic and “Monetization Experts” all your doing is chasing your customers away and joining the corporate greed bandwagon.

Yes. You killed it. Proving your point with totally made up numbers that in no way reflect the actual situation.

Hiring monetization experts wasn’t a mistake if their goal was to maximize profit. Which it most certainly was. Considering this has been a thing with gaming for over a decade, there is plenty of supporting evidence for how the pricing structure should be. And none of them include your made up numbers or patented less is more system.

There’s not been a lot of new content to bring them back. My private server was hopping when the first chapter came out but is now dead again because there’s nothing really there to keep people playing. Most of my server all hopped over to an ark server because they’ve done all the conan dungeons and are at max for what they can do.
