I absolutely, 100% agree with you here @stelagel. And I believe that the same rings true for the DLCs before them. Not only were the DLCs outstanding value, but many among the community just like ourselves brought them because we love and are deeply passionate about Conan Exiles, and we wanted to contribute to ‘keeping the lights on’. Even if there was a pack we felt was a little ‘meh’. For example, the Yamatai pack did not really appeal to me personally, so I did not buy it until quite some time after its release. Again, just because I wanted to contribute and support Funcom and the game I love and see its development continue. Heck when I was appointed the title Chosen of Asura I was awarded free DLCs. But because I wanted to continue to pay for them and support Conan Exiles, I held a contest for the many talented modders and artists in our community, and gave the DLCs away to the winner. With the outstanding value for money the DLCs were, most of us had little hesitation in snapping them up. Usually within the first week of their release in my case. And I feels that this quote by @Frillen justifies the point perfectly.
And this is the thing with the Bazaar. I have seen so many posts where good, long term members have bemoaned that that they really wanted to buy some or more items on the Bazaar, but the prices are just way too high, to the point where they find it unsettling. As I have declared in other threads, lower prices mean they sell more items. I remain confident that if prices received even a modest reduction, many members would start to buy more items. And not just out of desire alone, but also because we want to contribute.
I’ve purchased all of the DLC and have been a casual player for several years.. In comparison to what was offered within DLCs in the past for $9.99 which included building pieces/sets, armor, weapons, thralls, cosmetics such as warpaints, etc… the Bazaar prices for single items or smaller bundles of items going sometimes for almost $20 USD feels like robbery.
For example, I was looking at the Bazaarr today and took an interest in the guard dog set (3 total items listed)… 1239 croms… IMO - 2 problems here that I think they need to address:
price (whole point of this thread). 1200 croms for $9.99. Now like I stated above… that used to be the cost of a whole DLC full price. copying and pasting the latest DLC we got which was the People of the Dragon Pack… Here is what $9.99 got you at the end of 2021 when it was released:
People of the Dragon Pack contains:
48 new Nemedian building pieces, including new options.
An expanded full set of building pieces with the same stats as existing tier three.
15 new armor pieces in three sets, such as the Nemedian infantry armor.
Light, medium and heavy sets with an epic end-game version of each.
12 new Nemedian weapons including a shield.
Same power as iron weapons with an epic end-game version of each weapon.
32 new placeables, such as books, a flag, bed and fireplace.
Craft them at the new Nemedian artisan bench.
3 new Nemedian horse saddles.
Equip your horse with a light, medium or heavy saddle.
105 items total.. yet they want to ask more than $10 for 3 items…
since the set is 1239, that forces you to buy the $20 crom option in order to even purchase the item simply because of the extra 39 crom…
When you are comparing it to previous content purchase price(s) it’s very apparent that the Bazaar pricing is heavily overpriced. You will always have people who are willing to pay for it but in general, I feel as though prices should be adjusted to cause a bit more balance and in the long haul, more people would be willing to give support for these optional items.
Welcome to the forum @Nitri!
Well said! Though we cannot compare dlc prises with bazzar, because apparently they were not enough to keep the lights on, it’s a true feeling we have looking at the complete opposite now!
Such an enticing offer, you have truly played devil’s advocate this day. Hmmm…let me think about it. I have decided that unfortunately I am going to have to decline your generous offer. But if you find the poll that objectionable, you are most welcome to start your own poll. Otherwise, continue reading.
And yet I could make a rather safe wager that if I create an identical poll, but instead asking people to rate the prices of the DLCs as opposed Bazaar, it would produce a very different set of results.
Be my guest! I am more than happy for and strongly encourage posters to discuss what prices they would or would not be willing to pay, just as I said to @LostBrythunian earlier in the thread:
Which brings me to the “otherwise continue reading” part posted earlier herein. I see no reason to conceal it any further at this point, time to share a little revelation with yourself and the other members.
Pay attention to my final sentence in the reply to LostBrythunian posted above. Now take not of post no.1 (here it is):
For anyone who has not yet put it together: there is going to be a second Poll appearing in the post immediately after the original, discussing price percentages! It was the plan all along. But I decided to hold off and give people time to vote in the original poll first. As it would have been presumptuous, and potentially even foolhardy to dive straight in and assume a majority wished to see the prices adjusted, even if it appeared probable. At the time of your reply, the first poll had only been active and gathering data for <24 hrs. Moreover, we will now have added benefit of 2 datasets for Funcom to read over; I) the percentage of members who perceive the prices as being to high, and II) by how much or what percentage they would like to see them adjusted.
**
So with that said if yourself or for that matter ANY other members would like to collaborate on how we should structure the supplementary poll, feel free to send me a PM and I will add us all into a thread. Either way is fine with me. This is of course my BBQ, so the final call will be mine, but I will welcome any input and collaboration.
Like some others have said, it’s the inconsistency of the prices that bothers me. Some stuff I’ve bought that have seemed to be worth the price, but others I haven’t because their price has been too high. So some of the prices are fine as they are, some are not.
I also need to take into account the fact that because a portion of my limited playing time goes to completing the Battle Pass, I have less time to decorate, so I also need to consider whether the cosmetic item will actually see any use. If it’s an item I wouldn’t put in my base anyway, the price is moot.
Yeah…I haven’t had any issues with the Bazaar pricing. Seems pretty fair to me based on current market prices of…everything. Inflation is a bitch. I own…Well…everything I think that’s come across. lol. It’s no more expensive than going to McDonalds, but I get a lot more fun out of Conan than McDonalds. I have like 4,000 crom coins sitting in my account anyway. I just take like $10 - $20 every week or two and buy more so I have a supply on hand.
Would I like things to be cheaper? Of course. But that’s not fair of me to ask or decide on what someone else’s work is worth. It’d be like me building your deck and you only want to pay me half of the bill because you don’t like the price. If you don’t like the price…don’t buy it. If people don’t buy it, then they will have no choice but to adjust prices. That’s how an economy works. However, all of you complaining about the price, I can bet that you’re in the minority. Sorry. But that’s just reality.
I voted too high. As an OG-EA player I have been spoiled by the relative value of all the previous DLC bundles (which I bought 5 of each, including Siptah, 1 set of those buys goes unused because the user quit playing…). It’s not that I can’t afford Bazaar items, I chose not to buy them, despite really wanting the building sets.
I want to support further development of this game, and feel I’ve done so with my BP purchases. I’ve seen some good discourse on this from others so I won’t repeat their points, but yeah, too high for my tastes.
@Lostmuppet
That video shows the problem so well, but sadly no matter how much people like Josh shouts about it, game companies still carry on with their main goal to find ways to get as much money from their player base as possible, the actual game experience has become sort of secondary - You know there are actually people who believe that in order for a company to pay salary to their devs they need to do this or they won’t be able to pay them
One important thing to keep in mind is that it’s almost certainly not sustainable to fund the continued development of a game like Conan Exiles with nothing more than the sales of the base game itself.
Does that mean they have to reach into the Pandora’s box that Josh described and use the techniques from it? I personally don’t believe so.
This one will likely be in a crappy state of mind regarding the matter until the porcelain throne is fixed.
Sewage in the skull translates to effluvium in the post.
This one has been mulling over how much these things should cost in their mind…
But right now, it is shouted down by the atavistic growl that honest merchants don’t sell broken wares and no price listed by a dishonest merchant is good.
I voted the prices are too high
Not because I want the old prices like we had with the DLC’s but purely because items that could’ve been functional are just a placeable…
It is also worth noting, these new BP and BLB items are not usable by friends or even your own clan, which makes the value even less worth the price tag -.-
They aren’t usable by others simply because if they were then only one person in the clan would need to buy them and the rest get to use them. That would not help them reach their financial goals.
Another piece of telemetry that they for sure have is to be able to look at old DLC and see who is using it, and then also note if that account had actually bought it or was just using it from another account. I’m going to say that all of that data is why the situation exists today as it does.
True! I pay ps plus just to one account, since i have just one gaming machine! The three accounts this machine has are able to use all the dlcs! But bp and bazzar items are bought on the account that i use and no other account can use them!
I totally understand for bp, but for bazzar items the dlc way should exist! But i can hold nothing to it, i have no problem because they explain that this will happen before the feature was released! And i knew it before i start buying things. However i could always thank them that they didn’t force me to buy all the dlcs again for my account too and this must not stay unnoticed it would be ungrateful from my side!
Sorry but this overused argument is getting old, I don’t believe this happens so often as players imply…
I hardly believe it matters all that much at all when it comes to income. Those players won’t buy stuff in the first place anyway.
Its just very annoying right now, kinda anti consumer.
I’m okay with the building rights since the stuff is in the hammer of the owner, but the armour and weapons should be useable by other players.
Armours and weapons can be used to create matching outfits in a clan, just for fun. Now everyone needs to own the corresponding DLC… or stick to the old standard stuff. A waste of potential.
