@Mikey you and I are usually pretty straight with each other. Based on your testing, could you please do me a favour and tell me how many points (minimum) you personally feel we are going to need to sink into Agility in order to dodge and recover at a respectable rate? For each class if you like, but I am especially thinking in terms of Medium armour. It is my preferred armour class.

I haven’t tested all builds, but the one I’ve played with the most has 25 points in Agi @ lvl 60, and it feels ok. I have intentionally not tested with a full 50 because I see that as an extreme build that I wouldn’t personally make use of.

Zero points in agi is not likely to be viable either - so the question is where on the scale it becomes ā€˜ok’. That’s probably to some degree a question of play style (in which case they’ve succeeded). My guess right now is that at least 10 points will be needed, possibly 15, even in builds that don’t focus on it.

I’m agree with the roll-change.
I’m a single-offline player and yes, I still voted fort he change, even without testing it…
Why?
Because it sucked from the start, you roll, you hear a ā€œcrunch soundā€, and you tele-ball like a sphere
around your opponents, I hated it since the beginning.
Will this change make solo gaming a lil’ more tough? Will some boss become very hard to fight?
Ok for me, the human machine is the most flexible and adaptable of all and if I no longer can face tigers 1v1 on meleĆØ ok, I’ll take some arrows or find some tool to face 'em.

Yes indeed fight system needs more enhancement, reactive parries and some cool sidestepping, the roll-nerf could be ā€œheavierā€ to bear without improving some active defense but lets see what happens.
I’m replaying Conan in these days (well reinstalled waiting to see these new roll, horses does not interest me at all) to bet back in the mood… game needs some new implementations for sure, I do not like these new dungeons: good in style but stupid in mechanic, why am I not able to climb anywhere? Suddendly my character becomes stupid while entering a dungeon? I know it all depends from ā€œpoor design of AIā€ (where enemies stops chasing you simply climbing a box ^^) but making me dumb as the AI is not a great choice ^^
AI HAS to be redesigned somehow, and some combat design needs enhancement and improving yes.
Slowing down the roll is an enhancement? IF it’s only a first step in re-working the combat system I’m ok, if not… well…I’ll drop Conan again.

Off topic: I’ve built a small base near the river, 4 ā€œactiveā€ thralls and 2 workers… game is lagging so hard that even the terrain textures does not load. [PS4 user]. How in the blue hell people can manage having more than 50 thralls? ^^

I am currently playing on Testlive with zero points in agility. Can still dodge all PvE threads. The only thing that doesn’t work so well anymore is using the dodgeroll to gain space.

Maybe your PS4 is too old and somehow broken. I’ve just build a huge base (about 10k building pieces already) with workbench thralls and 20 placed thralls and I’ve only got small laggs.

I call it childish, because every time something changes someone is calling ā€œthe game is dying!ā€.
And yes, you are right, 87 out of more then 10k is not representative. But this is also true for the threats at this forum. We all are just a minority compare to the amount of players which never have written any comment here at the forum.
Even if you will find enough pro or contra comments to substantiate your argument and your point of view, it possible will not reflect how the majority of the player think.
And for this reason ā€œthe game is dyingā€ or the ā€œthis will kill the gameā€ a childish behaviour (at least in my opinion).

If we want to be heard by the developers we should come up with valid arguments. Then we will have a chance to come into a discussion and not by crying ā€œthe game will dyingā€.

Sounds like this will make early game more difficult. You know, those crocodiles, Exiles and things before we gain enough levels to raise our Agility.

Aye, very possibly. I haven’t tried going it from lvl 1, as I’m not really planning on starting over again.

I have tested new dodge on max lvl character with 10 AGI and now I can safely say it’s good in PVE.
Now you can press other buttons, instead of rolling out of every bad situation. In fact if you carry a shield you have to roll only to avoid unblokable high damage attacks or some sundering armor ā€œshield breakingā€ attacks - everything else can be sidestepped, blocked or couterstriked.
Can’t say anything about PvP.

I played from lvl 1 and first i leveled Encumbrance to first perk and after that just Agility.
Sure its harder and i died couple times learning the new system but sure its playable in pve, no idea how it runs in pvp.

So shields aren’t virtually useless anymore? I stopped using them because betting on getting the shield up in time to block an attack was worse than Russian Roulette.

I guess it’s really depends on playstyle, but shield and axe combination had been my favorite for quite some time now. Forward leap, AoE and shield bash - fighting a group of humanoids is a breeze (except for some high lvl undead)
Blocking is about knowing the incoming attack type. For example you generally don’t block spears - recovery frame is too short for you to close in. But against swords (both one and two handed), daggers and some axe attacks blocking is a solid counter.
P.S. Blocking to allow you to heal and regen some health is a huge thing in PVE

Tried it on a couple of 0-10s and it was doable reasonably well, but to be fair I didn’t use dodge at all. Stone spear seemed less effective to me on humans; stone sword and wooden shield or daggers allowed me to take on small groups of Exiles and Darfari I. One Darfari III fighter ate me alive though, but I’m not the best player.

Crocs were fine, as long as more than 2 didn’t mob me and I could heal up before the next attack. Dodge didn’t really help at all, as I was well within the range of their lunge. The stone spear was good on them, but seemed to eat up my stamina quickly.

Hey cheers for the pictorial SuperDuperOtter I like it! I have no idea who the cartoon character actually is, but it is definately funny. Im humble enough to admit when I have lost. Im also man enough to laugh at my own follies. Hence I have marked it as a ā€˜Solution’ for us all. Enjoy!

Just to go on the record, I did not create this poll to under the pretention that Funcom would disband their plans to implement the new doge/roll move. Nor for that matter would I expect them to do so. That would be both naive and absurd! I know they spent time and hard earned money developing it and if nothing else it deserves fair testing and assessment. But by the same token, bear in mind that having 45% off all members surveyed opposed to a design choice is a LOT of dissatisfied people!

Depending on how well recieved it is or is not after a few weeks of being live, I may or may not do a follow up Poll. So hang onto that pictorial for now…you may just need it again in the future.

It’s Gru. Villain extraordinaire and ne’er-do-well. Perhaps better known as the employer/father/owner of the ā€œMinionsā€ (yeah those…).

Wassat? Rhetorical question? Ehhh…

It’s not a good compromise though. Expecting solo players to change settings (which settings? and to what?) to make the game playable is terrible game design.

At best, it will make solo players feel like they’re needing to cheat to get through the game. At worst, they won’t even be aware of needing to change settings (not everyone visits the online communities to find such information) and they’ll just outright quit out of frustration because they’ll see the game as being broken.

A better solution - if different settings really are necessary - would be for Funcom to update the default settings of solo games to be different than the servers, and these new default settings should be retroactively applied to existing games (like mine) so they don’t become broken with the update.

Actually, I feel solo games should already have different settings. For example, the Purge takes way too long to happen for solo players.
