You can be a stable master, but no you can’t sell followers (edit you can sell/trade freshly broken thralls, pets, horses. Just not after they have been placed for leveling).
Essentially for the horses, they act just like the slaves you collect in the game (save for the acquisition part. Thralls you have to knock out, drag back to a wheel, and then break them. Horse, you find out in the wild and just pick them up.)
You then grow them from a foal to a adult horse that you then can ride and level up.
However, regarding horses (and the thrall system in general):
- You are limited to how many you can have now (edit I should side note that I was a little incorrect here. Thinking on it, I suppose its important to note the limit isn’t actually in place yet. Just looming in the near future at any time). For a solo player, this is 50 for a clan, 5 for a player (or 5 per players past the first). If you are solo or on a private server, this limit can be adjusted/turned off.
- Once a follower (thrall, pet or horse) comes off the wheel, stable, pet pen, they are regulated specifically your clan (or you). You can’t sell off, trade, give a follower. The only way to get rid of a follower is have it killed off, or the option of ‘Release Follower’ (release follower does not mean let lose. I forget specifically but I think it just kills the unit off).
- Currently horses don’t have a lot of application in the game save for the ‘side game’ of acquiring and leveling a horse. Its slightly faster then moving around the map by foot (but by foot gives you many advantages, and the parkour in this game is actually really fun). Horses are poor for farming and hauling stuff. Horses can’t be used for capturing other thralls as you can’t bring a thrall back with you while on the horse. And I would claim horses are pretty poor for combat, however thats a personal opinion, some people enjoy it.
On the farming and selling side, I suppose you could farm the other materials and there is no restriction on trading those. However:
- There is no trading system within the game. Essentially you have to dump your stuff on the ground and the other player picks it up. This requires a bit of trust on part of both the seller and the buyer, so a ‘beware’ sort of situation.
- theres no real important currency in the game right now. Gold and silver coins do exists, however, their usefulness is questionable. The economy between players and resources and having actual trading mean anything isn’t really there outside of RP.
For a quick view of what the game is about:
- From 0 - 40 is a pretty fun survival experience (with stuff past 40 not all that challenging save for dungeons, world bosses, and potentially very specific places like in the Volcano or Frost Giants lair.) and even more so (in my opinion) a great time exploring a very interesting map Funcom provided. Even though I wouldn’t mind it expanded, as I have been in it for 2 years now, its a great time just running around checking things out.
- After 40 +, and certainly at end game, it sort of depends on what style you go for, PvE, PvE-C, or PvP. This is most certainly a game that relies heavily on the sandbox style of gaming and a lot of it is for players to find their own fun.
PvP obviously has PvP battles and raiding and destroying other player bases.
PvE-C is a bridge in the middle with PvP elements, but more regulated and time specific
PvE is largely dungeons, exploring, base building, bulking out your followers, and community. (all of this is in the other styles of game time as well, obviously, but as you don’t deal with other Players in that context, the focus is obviously on these aspects).
I am sure theres plenty of things I will miss that others do in game because once again, people largely find their own place in the game.
After I finished the survival aspects, the dungeons, and know the map like the back of my hand, my game time is almost primarily building, and farming resources to facilitate building.
That said, I do really like building in this game (beats games like ark and minecraft IMO), but thats really the only thing that holds interest for me anymore after 1k+ hours of playing. That said, before I did everything and the game was new, exploring and figuring out the game 1 - 60 was a blast.
Strong recommend not using the wiki until a absolutely last resort. Its much more enjoyable figuring out things and finding out things on your own.
