I wasn’t sure exactly where this thread would fit … I actually wanted to encourage some sort of review of the current Vanir Cabin Set from the Black Lotus Bazaar, including constructive criticism - on the other hand, I’d like everyone to be able to immortalize visually their first attempts with this tileset here.
This is the first building I’ve just constructed. It’s currently on the official server #1940 and is intended to be a kind of tavern. The location is near the harpy cave, where I’ve already built a small infrastructure so that my thralls can help new players easily kill the Children of Jhil to farm Blood Stone Tools when they’re pulled out of the cave. While this is a relatively busy spot on our official server, players can keep an eye out for a golden thrall in the future in my tavern if they want.
The tileset itself combines relatively well with others, I think. However, I hope there will be a second version of this existing tileset - a Vanir Cabin Set II, so to speak. If not, it would be great if you could add a few more elements to the existing set.
I also think the price for the Vanir Cabin Set is okay. (From my own experience, I can only recommend the following: If you’re a regular Conan Exiles player and genuinely interested in the BLB content, please don’t keep buying a few Crom Coins again and again. Wait until a potential discount is available - the last one was almost two years ago at Christmas - and then invest a lot in one go. This will put the prices into perspective.)
What I am finding irksome is that it is missing several parts such as Rooftop Ends, Rooftop Caps, No wedge pieces of any type and no idea if this is a bug or intended.
my Criticism is the none snow the grass roof and the grass/dirt foundations i dont like it feels rushed and unpolished, and its kinda hurt the eyes just to look at, but its need more time to be made.
OVERALL: i will give it a 4/10 the idea is good but its feels its need alot of love and alot more time on the bench before it should have being released.
Does anyone else find that some of the “foundations” (hearth in specific) don’t function as foundations and that the awnings have extremely bizarre clipping points?
This one also echoes displeasure that wedges have once more been neglected. However, there also aren’t any of the rounded pieces so common in sets that have forsaken the wedge.
It is nice looking and the snow effect is lovely.
Very much wish the hearth foundation was more utile
Also, the wooden foundations and ceiling.
Look at them next to Nemedian. Are they just a pallette swap?
Overall, it’s not bad, but feels incomplete.
Especially as it lacks (the above mentioned) wicker fencing. The style of walls would be perfect for a non damaging fence (such like the stable half wall options).
The hearth foundations really do not want to clip to other foundations and seem to do so at a much lower level than others, and other foundations want to clip to them at a higher level.
I don’t think they were meant to as they appear to be simply foundations with less height, intended I think to mimic a lower earthen pit or depression for a “hearth”, essentially a camp fire/cooking space.
Unfortunately you can’t fit a Yamatai Hearth or Vanir Hearth on it due to clipping/placement issues (unless you use a mod) if surrounded by regular foundation pieces. You can place a camp fire or even a bonfire on them or a firebowl cauldron.
We already could get the same effect by simply lowering foundations by one or two steps utilizing a fence foundation technique, so I don’t exactly see the need for this piece and it probably would have been better at full foundation height.
Not sure at all why there is a snowy variant of this piece but I am sure we can find some uses for it.
i have tryed to give it a more push its good with nemidian as foundation but their is no Wedges so i had to use the stable fence foundation to just make it simulor its really good set if you want a middle age fortress but then their is no wedges it does not really make it that fun, the stone foundations sides looks awesome relly help make nemidian even more, and the roof dosent look good frome fare away, but it has alot of good things in it the building set, something i will like funcom to add in the future is 3x2 gate(3 wide, 2 high) becuse 3x4 gates is way to much for alot of builds
I like the set very much, actually. I haven’t noticed issues at least yet but the lack of pieces is annoying. And having only the one look for stairs kinda bugs me a bit. They’ll probably release an expansion so they can sell us the set twice like they have done with a couple of other sets as well.
Back in the day you got a complete DLC set with armor, weapons and possible decorative items for roughly the same price and that was decent. Now they just throw together some faulty set that lacks pieces which they won’t fix for years like the Aesir for example. Well, i guess it’s a smart business move, making us pay twice for the sets.
the foundations frome the vanir set mach good into khitan with yamatai just t give a exsemple how it looks, that is only the faundation their really shine frome the set.
Would really like to see the missing pieces: wedges, fence foundation, fences in general, and corner stairs.
Additionally, I’d really love to see some kind of consideration for how pieces work with pieces from other sets. I’m very bothered by my snow sticking THROUGH my wall pieces because I dared to mix Vanir and Aesir.
There’s not a lot of building pieces to justify the price. To me, it’s just a weak effort that is essentially a cash grab. Other sets also fall in this category; the pyramid set is missing so many pieces, just like the lost dungeon. building sets were much better when we had DLC’s proper instead of crumbs.
