A few weeks ago my brother got our clan banned by having a camp with walls around it. Been doing that for 5 years but I guess now it’s frowned upon so he got banned. We started back up and only built 2 camps. My camp is small and doesn’t bother anyone. His camp sits North of the tower on Siptah and uses bridges to get to it since it sits on top of a mountain. How is this not allowed? Yesterday his camp was destroyed and again today we are banned. We have never bothered anyone on this game in 5 years and to get banned twice in a month is ridiculous. His camp wasn’t obstructing anyone or anything. Funcom has most likely lost 2 hardcore players. I know I’m not going back to an official server. Playing on PS5, what are my other choices? I heard there’s a coop where’d I’d have to stay near my brother, that’s no good. How are the private servers? Can I join any one that I want? Are they overrun with people blocking the map and running amuck?
There are lots of private servers and the forum as a section dedicated to server and clan things. Also I would suggest using other social media to scout out the right private server. I won’t go too much into the ban since that isn’t the primary point of the posting but you can hit ZenDesk online form to get some details however I must warn you that most responses are typically very corporate in nature; meaning not as useful to educate.
Yes and no at the same time. It really depends on the server owner and what kind of server they wish to provide. Its the proverbial “I’ll do my own, but with blackjack and hookers!” situation. So your mileage is going to vary.
Being on Playstation limits the options of what a private server can offer (no mods) but that also means that you don’t have to fiddle with modlists or engage with servers that do crazy things (some are in to that, but I doubt you are since you’re not on PC). So connecting to any server should be as easy as getting whitelisted, a password, or in some cases joining.
But with that said, just using server options you can vary the experience pretty nicely actually. Which means you will find a different experience on every server you try. There will likely be servers that have enhanced gather rates to encourage building. There might be ones with lowered rates and very slow leveling to give a gritty survival feel. Most servers will likely be something inbetween.
And then there is always the option of starting your own. All consoles use G-Portal for this so it makes it simple finding a host (if not annoying if you want to host a larger server). If you’re looking for an option for you and you buddy to ■■■■ around on, this could be a good option. I’ve done this myself for Conan, Valheim, Space Engineers, Terraria, and even Minecraft (well my friend hosted that one) in the past. The benefit is you don’t have to worry about someone else’s rules and you and your friends can login at different times and do whatever you wish.
I actually recommend that option for anyone using Coop. If you were on PC, you could host the server yourself. Which I do wish was possible for our console friends. A computer that can’t play Conan well can still host a server for 2-3 players easily. But B2B deals are what they are.
My daughter got a private server for our family. She knew I love to build and would hate a public server. The reason I love it is I can now build anywhere I want. As big as I want and as elaborate as I want. She has it set so I can have as many thralls as I want because I like to build towns and ports. We have our builds to see whose structure can live and which ones we know are off-limits. She can change the settings so they don’t have to worry about decay when the others and she are off on new seasons of their other games. Yes, you miss out on random meetings with other players. However, you can always have a private server and still play on the official when you are lonely
In my experience:
Private
pros : Are up almost 24/7, active adm, problems are solved fast
Cons: Restrict rules, even the more vanilla has some customizations, eg. the one im flirting on, has no stability loss and super fast craft rate, also the purge has no restriction of time, you will have to be purgeded even if you dont want it.
Official:
pros : 100% vanilla game experience, less restricitve rules
cons: since 12/2022 the server i play freezes on loading screen every day, is most of the time down, no adm, no solution for problems by months and even years
