My point exactly, coal used to be used with torches and was “harder” to maintain a torch and I enjoyed that, again, Imho, but coal was removed… now one can use Coal for fuel, or making tar I suppose but that takes a ton, if you can still even do that. So, if Black Ice needed more exposure as stated above why not coal… Crush into Diamonds 
… Poor Coal. I just feel that if you change a recipe “add Black Ice” keep the Brimstone recipe too… there are several ways to get Ichor… squish putrid meat, cook blue fish, cook the “shrimp” etc… so have both recipes for Hardened Steel… and for heaven sake add Coal to stuff too , I liked getting coal back in the day.

2x faster is great… for those who want to have a base near the north or go there all the time… others prefer not and utilized the Brimstone recipe (which is slower as stated) this was not as much a concern (to me PVE) so… Why not Keep both recipes?

Yeah, strictly farming the new one is better…
For killing random NPCs its really worse…
Good example New Asgarath yesterday…
After 1 1/2hour I had 350 steel and 150 brimstone.
Could craft hardened steel without really farming a resource.
And thats why, Funcom should have left the old recipe in the game (or maybe that was the reason for the change?)…

I have never depended on farming NPC’s for anything but Weapons and Zeal. I only have limited time, so i need as much material top build and protect what i have as possible. Faming 1.5 hours for 4500 Hardened steel (that cooks over night while i live a normal life, sleep, etc…) is far more effecient for me.
I have to schedule around life. this new reciep allows me to enjoy other parts of the game.
Day 1 is Farm day, 1.5 hours.
Get Hide. take to tanner-
Get Iron. Put in smelter
Get Black Ice.
Get Brimstone, combine with tar in firebowl.
go to sleep 4- 6 hours.
Before work, take steel fire and put it with iron bars and black ice.
Get off work. 4500 Hardened steel. good for a month usage on repair kits, armor.
I find farming resources the most boring part, in the endgame.
And I am also not depending on just that… I have so many mats, my main base is basically one full chest after another.
But it was nice to get some(can craft) by just killing people.

Didn’t say it was exciting. But by doing this, my clan can scrap together a legit raid and battle in a week after joining a server against the alphas. Compete for a little bit with the hoarder clans that have benefited from dead server/broken mechanics to dupe, because eventually resource difference is the biggest advantage in a war. That and play time. I find staying on the same server, piling up non real life material boring. I prefer, build, fight, move on.
How good that I play PvE to avoid exactly those players like you.
What you do, is not cool, so players have no desire to play the game.
Going from server to server and killing people there is like a gang of schoolchildren who just want to terrorize others.
No, we actually only attack the Alpha/Larger Clans. Worth our while, as they have the most complicated difficult bases to raid. Enjoy the challenge of trying to take down the un-raidable bases… And we never go for full wipes. Contrary, we go to play the PVP aspect, fight, and defend. The clans that want to have perma-stashes should go to PVE/PVE-C servers. We don’t “wipe” servers. Quite the opposite, we populate the server with people who want to enjoy the PVP mechanics to the fullest. How is it wrong to blow in a door/wall, take some items from a vault or 2 on a server designed exactly for that?

Yes, you playing on PVE is good for you. There is nothing wrong with not wanting the pvp conflict part. But don’t judge those of us who do enjoy the competitive nature of PVP.

get disconnect every 3to4 minutes after patch. 4 different servers. even in desert, no inventory nothing around.

Sad I know, I have two. But the Warmaker’s war hammer (exact name eludes me as I can’t seem to login to #3731 PvE after patch) still does 100% armor penetration & 50 damage (versus 55 for Annihilator - both with advanced damage kit added). Guess I’ll take that off the wall & equip my bearer.
after this new update does not allow to create hardened steel. Anyone having the same problem?
Read the patch notes. Recipe was changed…

It now requires brimstone and black ice to make hardened steel.

Ok, if you only hunt the Alphas.
It sounded like you were going from server to server and just raided everything.
That would not really be cool and spoil the fun of most of them.
But alpha hunting is good, so even the smaller clans have a chance to go up.

Not saying we are saints. We do occasionally hit (not wipe) others clans to help with the build up, land claim, or because they damaged something of ours (not steal, not kill in 1v1, but damage a base), or if we have intel that they feed/store for the Alphas.
