Bug Description:
Played the game for a couple of weeks. When I logged in around day 4-5 maybe, all the progress done the previous day was lost. A few days later, it happened again. This time I noticed that I was even missing a few structures that I did start the previous day with. Then yesterday, continuing my save, I was greeted by the character creation screen. So, lost 100% of the progress.
I have PS+ and auto-upload saves to cloud. Each time the save got corrupted, I downloaded the cloud save in hope that it would fix it. But no. Makes sense, as the save was probably corrupted when it was uploaded.
I take care to exit game to main menu and let it sit there for a bit before turning off the console. I will say that I usually just hibernate the ps5 and continue playing another day without the game being restarted.

The only times I closed and reopened the game or rebooted the console, was after the problem had already occured - hoping maybe it could clear something cached in memory, but alas. I could venture a guess that it would be related to hibernation, maybe messing up the data that becomes serialized. I did not notice any odd behavior ingame, though.
I suppose I could give it another chance, closing and reopening the game properly between each play session and report the result, if that would be helpful.

A small immediate update. I loaded my save, went through with the character creation, bumped myself back to 60 with admin and teleported myself to where I had my main base. Apparantly the base is still there, missing a couple of benches but mostly still intact. It does say it doesn’t belong to me, which makes sense as its a new character.
I suppose starting a new save would make for a better test, but I’m somewhat hesitant until you can confirm that there’s no way to restore the old character. Please advise
Thanks for the advice. Of course, the answer was “start over”. Having gone through another character creation on that save caused the buildings - though being still there - to be owned by my previous character and thus unavailable to my new character. No admin options to transfer ownership afaik. So I decided to start over with a new save, after all.
FWIW - after having played for a while, closing the game from the dashboard everytime and then turning off the PS5, I can report having 0 save issues. So fairly certain its related to the hibernation / not quitting the game completely.
Thanks for the additional information. Until our team can properly send out a fix for this issue, we suggest you keep exiting the game completely after playing.
