Purge appeared on top of base that is ground accessible on all sides

Our Northern base, which is located in the Skyholme Ruins ( in the middle of C-10 on the Map), had its first purge last night. It is completely accessible all the way around it on the ground and is not on a spire, in the water, or on an inaccessible cliff. We got the purge warning, and saw our thralls reacting but couldn’t find the purge initially. We then realized it was on the roof of our flat top tower. The spawn point of the purge on our tower was at the top of an elevator we installed so others could reach our map room. It was a human spawn- Nordheimers- and consisted of one wave only. We got a message that they had retreated to regroup, but the purge never continued AND the symbol disappeared from the map.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Build a base at Skyholme ruins (circular in nature with a flat roof and an elevator to the top)
  2. Purge- nordheimers
  3. purge popped on roof
  4. kill them all and hear the lamentation of da women’s!

Not a bug. It’s an intended mechanic. There is always a % chance to have them spawn in/on your base.

There is a really good guide to purges on the net somewhere that explains it all, but I’m not able to find it at the moment.

I’ve had this happen once too, though it was awhile ago.

Base was on land, and it said bandits were coming. Instead, a stream of skeletons spawned directly out of my map room. Like, the map room itself was spawning them.

By chance, was your maproom built on top of several layers of foundations stacked on top of another?

Had this happen at someone’s base build inside the western monument at the Eastern Barracks last night too. It was the new Lemurian purge, and they all spawned on the middle and upper floors built inside the structure making it a real chore to fight. (The GPU lag from all the players and bodies was atrocious.)

In another instance last night, there was an on-base purge at an open structure built in F9 just by the large hill that leads up to the valley enclosing New Asagarth. They spawned atop the player’s Animal Pen and reduced it to ruin immediately.

I’ll try to see if I can get some screenshots later today.

Nope. It was ground. 1 layer of foundations. Maproom on top.

I had it happen just yesterday, in the starting area. Down close to the Dregs.

Three story base, they spawned on the top of the flat roof and over the peaked parts on all four sides, was suppose to be A band of starved exiles they were starved all right, as it was skellies who attacked and only on the roof even when there was access on three sides of base. you can see the part left of char, some of them spawned on that angled roof. All ceiling tiles and walls under it till you get to the bottom floor where the foundations were.

I have read all I can find on purges but for life of me can not find why they would spawn on roof when many places with access to foundations that they could spawn easier. Makes no sense that this has been an issue for a long time with no fix.

@Hugo I have info on the purge I mentioned up-thread, as well as another where this happened.

In this purge I mentioned previously, a single wave of Beast-Tamers spawned on the roof of the Animal Pen and immediately destroyed it (they rebuilt it) before the purge petered-out.

In a different purge last night, An Army of Nordheimers spawned atop a different clan’s base by Riversend.

One thing interesting to note here is that, they spawned atop a fully enclosed structure that was hollow inside (the large round pedestal where they intended to place a large well). I suspect that the exposed ground under the pedestal was the target, and with no path out, it simply increased elevation until it was atop and obstructions.

I’d post screenshots of the interior-spawned purge at the western structure at Eastern Barracks, but since the player keeps it locked-up all the time, there’s no way to get inside, plus you obviously have a map location since it’s a named site.
