Purge meter decays too fast

We’re two people in my clan. We play 2-3 days a week, between 3-4 hours every time. We haven’t seen a purge since April 2018. At one time, we even managed to get it half full, but the next day it was back to almost zero. What do we have to do to get a purge, that doesn’t involve playing 6 hours every day?

Purge decay makes it very hard, no doubt.

You can get it to go up faster by making sure you kill a creature, a human, and construct something at least once every 15 minutes.

I’ve found that the killing part isn’t too hard, just pause to slay that random rocknose or croc you might normally run past. For building, carry a small stack of stone and wood and plop down a Sandstone Wedge Foundation whenever you are between regular activities.

Make no mistake, the purge decay will still be working against you with this strategy, but you might be able to increase it fast enough to get a purge once or twice a month.

They implemented it because the purge checks all clans for purge eligibility, even if the clans aren’t active anymore. Checking through inactive clans is what used to cause the purge meter to sit at full meter for two weeks before you’d finally get a purge. The purge decay made inactive clans drop off the checklist.

Unfortunately, this solution is bad for everyone who isn’t inactive. I think it could be managed much better if they added a 24-hour delay before it starts ticking down. Then, as long as someone from your clan logs in at least once per day, you will effectively experience no purge decay. If this idea is not technically feasible, then they should just reduce the decay rate.

Im not getting any purges, I’m only getting the purges of my troll neighbors intended to hit my base…

True. Though IMO it’d be better if they either let there be more of a grace period before it started dropping, or else simply removed “inactive clans” (whatever definition one would use to determine this) from the pool of eligible Purge targets without decreasing their meter.

Then again I never really understood why offline clans needed to be Purged at all - if the Purge was intended as a clean-up mechanism, maybe, but that’s what Decay is for.

I have a private server that is pretty casual as well. I set these purge settings in the ServerSettings.ini to speed up purges a bit. We get them about once every couple weeks.

ClanPurgeTrigger=30000 (default is 42000)
ClanScoreUpateFrenquency=10 (default is 15)

Lowering these numbers will make purges more frequent (faster ticker, and fewer actions needed to fill the bar).

Since my purge always breaks and whatever they deem as a “Valid Target” (which usually means that the target appears inside my base as opposed to approaching it…because being in a flat open space isnt valid enough) I am totally happy with the decay.

Having an avalanche of Rocknoses appear in my library or kitchen makes very little sense.

I am online and playing everyday for about 3 hours and my purge meter didn’t reach 25%. every night it is empty. Is frustrating how fast is the decay

put all your stuff in a chest, and stay logged in, let the character die over and over.

I have considered it, but in this day and age, it seems crazy from an energy-wasting / CO2 standpoint. I am aware that playing games / watching TV et al are already “wasteful”, but letting the system stay on (and working) when no-one is even playing just seems wrong.

Naturally that’s my personal view, and I don’t expect or ask anyone else to look at it the same way just because I said so, heh :slight_smile:

I’m with you Mikey, if my Character is “awake” I’m there or not far away.

I was just telling a way to accomplish the result, for ̶a̶ ̶f̶i̶l̶t̶h̶y̶ ̶c̶a̶s̶u̶a̶l̶ ̶ someone who has limited game time.:wink:

And advertising my good friends YouTube

Not my preferred method. :slight_smile:

I really wish there was a more reasonable and less gamey solution. :frowning:

Yep adjust the timer on the purge from 40k actions to 1k and watch what happens

Adjusting the purge threshold is certainly a viable option for private servers, but it leaves folks who play on Officials out in the cold. Even on private servers, it would still be nice to get an option to disable purge meter decay.
