That’s a good reason to not build on top of an established base. We had a purge last night at a public map room we built, and the clan that built super close found out why they should not have done so.
We were busy on the south side, and the north side attackers that spawned next to their base found the thralls very appealing. I am not an advocate of letting your purge go wild on bases because you don’t like where they built, but when it comes from multiple directions it’s harder to defend. There was one level 2 fighter that was tearing up the build on the opposite side until we found him.
Well, maybe the problem was “They could topple chunks of castles in a single swipe”.
If I spend time and resources to build a T3 castle, I don’t want some NPC to destroy it in 1 hit.
Also, considering how dumb thralls are at defending bases, probably it’s not the best time to do something like this.
Siege Enemies are ok, but then we should get Anti-Siege Defences (Ballistas, GOOD Archers, etc …)
The storm was not and hasn’t been island wide for that reason. The storm encompasses the leyshrines and tower area leaving the periphery untouched. Essentially, a conflict zone where if people built junk for pvp/other purposes, the mechanic took care of the cleanup leaving noob valley and the redwood area untouched. It was never an island wipe.
Personally, I liked the mechanic, but understood why it was changed. Siptah had a more unique feel and had heightened danger with the storm going for an hour every 4 hrs (I still use these settings). It was a differentiator. These are hard questions tho when doing something new. Do people want tweaked more of the same? Or do people want something completely fresh? New has risk and more of the same is well… more of the same. I’m always a fan of risk in these scenarios because I tend to play my life safe…
I actually like the idea overall of a controllable purge
Purges in my experience have often come at the worst times, when you want to log off, bugged and then you have to wait a whole hour for the purge to despawn or spawns on your roof, I have very often wished I could mitigate it even if it took some effort.
Considering they said you choose to participate in a purge or not, I suspect the old purge mechanic is no longer gonna be a thing. It would be strange to have two ways to get one, especially when they say you can opt out of it. The only way to truly do this would be to not use the coffer. Not sure if there will still be a purge meter though. We’ll have to see as we get closer to chapter 2 release.
See my post were I just lost everything to your standard buggy purge. So still a thing and no opt out. And yes still a purge meter.
The way it looks to me is you can opt out of the treasure raids; maybe in chapter 2 of the age of wears. But not opt out of the good old bugged powder puff or Abomb purges.
I’d advise funcom to turn off purges till the game can be set up to opt out. I mean completely turn of the old purges.
I’m still waiting to hear a response from some one that knows just what was meant by the treasure room not begin the only way to trigger a purge. Did they mean guess what, old purges are still a thing?
