Bug Description:
Purges are starting and ending within a minute or two of each other. This is showing up on my logs but game is not giving warning or any indication a purge is about to start (except after the very first purge trigger yesterday). This issue occurred 8 times today and 3 times yesterday; purge meter is not going back to zero; purge seems “stuck” in an loop of never actually starting. The very first time the purge started was during a teleport and since then the loop of never actually starting (with only logs as proof) has been happening during purge hours over the last two days.
Bug Reproduction:
Purge originally popped up while teleporting on map; purge has been bugged since.
In the absence of an official response, I figured I’d share with you some observations:
This has been an issue for years. A Purge requires: eligibility (meter and player on), a spawn in location, and a clear path to its target. Without all three, your number may come up and the Purge starts, but it’s unable to accomplish the mission because one of the other pieces are missing. Therefore, it will end abruptly. What you’re seeing is repeated attempts to hit you again and again maybe you’re one of the few eligible. (my record is 11x during purge hours).
This has happened to me for years. I have no problems with purges when my base is simple and small, but as it grows and expands, less available spawn in locations are available and there are obstacles in the way for clear pathing. ie. I’ve inadvertently jacked up my purge by expanding my base.
I’d suggest, thinking back to when your last purge was and the expansions you made since. Start dismantling by working backwards.
I honestly don’t want to pop purges and can’t remember the last time I did. I’ve been on an official server for years. I’ve just been far more active with 3.0 release. I also don’t want to be up every night waiting to see if it’s going to pop. If there is no longer a chance for it to pop, that may not be a bad thing.
I did not know this bug exists, and I do thank you for replying to me in absence of an official response.
Edit: Now that I’m thinking about it, the purge that originally popped before going through the loop was “a band of lemurian scouts”. I only have one small map room that this could have targeted and it’s built high up by the Pagoda of Boundless Lusts - it’s up in a ruin that is built into a tree - you can get to it by elevator or by running a long a long tree branch. Wondering if it’s that base and if purges that have spawned continually try the same spot and stuck because of that base. While I think the path is clear along the branch, the game might not think so.
