I’d be very surprised if this hasn’t already been asked multiple times but what’s the point of crafting religion outfits that can’t be worn by priests?
I decided to make the Headdress of Jhebbal Sag just out of curiosity, I already knew it wouldn’t serve much purpose. The description reads “A formal headdress worn by Jhebbal Sag priests.” And yet Parin of the Blood Moon kneels at the Grove wearing a standard Hyena Skull Helmet. Just seems like wasted potential and feels wrong
Fluff. You could put it on a thrallfor flavor but they arent good for much else.
Some do, some don’t.
Few of Derkito t4’s wear skull mask, 1 or 2 of them 4 don’t. which is fine, (not fan of it)
Some of them, I mostly use as dancer outfits. Or Abit of RP. Mostly just a unique reward for being part of that group.
Some Crom religious armor or clothing for players would be nice. And no I do not mean simply using an existing set and eroneously calling it Crom armor or clothing. But rather some actual unique items.
For CROM!!
That’s a shame, pretty much what I expected but I was kind of hoping there would be some additional function that I hadn’t worked out. Something like enhancing the effects of other items from the religion when the respective armour/clothing is being worn, oh well.
They’re just for looks. Not everything you wear has a mechanical benefit.
The answer is simple: It’s for RP reasons.
The funny thing is, some of those religious clothes aren’t good even for looks. Specifically, the disappointing Mitra outfit. Why would I murder people in the name of Mitra and steal their souls to make clothes when I can just dye coarse clothing for the same visual effect?
My priests of Mitra and their acolytes wear a Dancer top and a Kambujan shaman skirt, dyed white. The end result looks like a toga on men and is stylish, dignified and, in my opinion, fitting the theme. (I also happened to catch a named female Priest of Mitra from a Purge when the Purges were bugged and always spawned naked, so she serves in one of my shrines clad in her birthday suit. As we learned in The Black Colossus, Mitra doesn’t approve of fancy dresses or opulent decorations, so her version of Mitra worship is that of rejection of material wealth.)
For my Setites, Yog and Derketo cultists, the theme clothing is just fine. My Ymir priests go naked because no natural cold could bother a true follower of the Frost Father.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of the items are purely decorative and for immersion and RP, but the fact that some of the priests even at T4 don’t actually wear the immersive and RP clothes tends to undermine their existence, in my opinion. It’s no big deal, just a bit odd.
I would have thought that the Religious clothing should be worn while summoning the god.
All trouble to murder 500+ people…and collect all Zeal… And Now they want me to wear a outfit?
I’m out!, weirdest cult I’ve ever been in. XD
I think that at the heart of this thread you are expressing that you wish we could change the clothing on our crafting station thralls (including priests), does that sound about right Muppetish? Because I would love to be able to do just that! Something to differentiate them would be amazing. Some examples?
I would like to be able to dye my cooks’ clothing, hat and aapron especially white, dress my alchemist in something a little more occult and hooded such as Skellos robes, dress my brewing vat thrall in tavern clothes, and my armorers in…well, armor of course.
Yeah, it would definitely be nice, especially since the clothing exists. A blacksmiths apron that can’t be worn by blacksmiths? Traditional priests clothing that can be worn by characters, fighters and archers but not priests? I can’t help feeling that something went wrong and just wasn’t fixed. It’s not game breaking and shouldn’t be a priority but would definitely be nice if Funcom are able to change it eventually.
