Pve needs charity tables

Well in pve we have a serious exchange issue that must be solved . In order to give something to someone else because you want to help him , or trade , you have to drop everything on the ground and hope that he will receive them all .If we had a craftable item like a charity table ( but working as chest) ,it would be very easy in pve to exchange items . Thank you .

why not just place a chest and leave it unlocked?

Welcome to the comunity. In official pve servers you cannot see anything that belongs to other players. You cannot open their fridge, you cannot see their fishtraps etc
So it is impossible to trade. The only way to give something to someone else is to drop it on the floor. Either way chests exists to serve you and not the others. I speak about charity tables because their main job will be charity. Imagine that you farm things that you don’t really need. Putting them to the dismantling bench the amount of the materials you take back is low, so it is far better to put this equipment to a charity table for a new player, or any. Again it is an attitude issue. Charity tables outside my house declare that it is something that i offer, so it is not stealing. On the other hand chest outside my house declare nothing for the others, so even your effort to look if it has something inside, it is half stealing. Thats why i call them charity tables because their main job will be charity and their secondary trade.

That wouldn’t work. In PvE, all items are locked all the time and accessible only by members of the owning clan.

Agreed, it suuuucks when you go to trade with someone by dropping items on the ground and they didn’t know to loot all only to find that valuable items have decayed. At least by using a container for the transaction, the missed items wouldn’t simply decay.

That is exactly the reason this ‘charity tables’ or whatever they want to call it must be specific design , and be open and accessible for all players in pve. It is the only safe way to trade, but the most importand use will always be the charity. They should have and really big decay timer so we can put food too.

No problem. I ve made worst mistakes than that . No worries mine thank you for your support :+1:

On private servers chests can be left unlocked and manually locked. Problems with that is fish traps benches wheels of pain are all left unlocked and the honour system doesn’t always work.

On the official server everything is locked without the action of the player. That means you do not need doors other than decoration. You can leave all your legendary on weapon racks and nobody can touch them. It is really nice. However the trading issue is a problem. Since nobody can interact to anything that belongs to you. So what if i have some spears and i want to share them? You know, (because you are this kind of person too) that a lot of players like to help the others, especially the new ones. Still you cannot wait somebody to show up to go and help him, so if we had this kind of thing (charity table for example), we could always leave our spears there for the ones who need it and because they exist for this reason then it wouldn’t be stealing.
Thank you for supporting the idea
Ps i am not sure about the spelling of the word spear, but i dont mean the weapon, i mean the extra things we don’t need :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. Forgive my English, thank you.

That seems like a really dangerous solution. Remember, we PvE players have never had to lock anything ever, so suddenly unlocking everything just so we can have the option of maybe leaving a couple chests public would likely result in disaster. I couldn’t consider this viable even for my own server, much less an Official. :frowning:

Much better to create a single new type of container that is unique in its exemption to the standing rule than change all the rules for a single corner case.

@Larathiel agreed it didn’t work out well when I tried it on my server. A special chest would be appreciated. @stelagel the word your looking for is spare. And your English is better than some people I have talked to in London lol :smirk:

By “we PvE” players you only refer to PvE players on official servers I assume because I have played on many PvE servers in which you can place chest and leave them unlocked to leave donations for new players. So that does not apply to all PvE players at all. However, those servers do have active admins on them so people do not go around stealing from others were as on an official server I can see this being a HUGE problem. But, that’s not really a problem if you build without windows and don’t place objects outside. I remember having to do that back in EA.

I agree that such chests are relevant on PVE servers. To build a chapel or in the temples of Mithra put next to the fountains “box for the needy”.

This can inspire those who have reached level 60 and have accumulated large stocks of “unnecessary garbage” over many months of life.

Thank you for supporting the idea. We need all the voices we can get. :+1:

I never sayd that only official pve exist, sestus2009 has his own server and a really nice one. I recommend however charity tables because chest is privacy, charity table is not. Plus unlocking chests in pve servers is like playing with fire. The beauty of pve is the relaxation that you feel when nodody can steel you or destroy your farms just for fun. So, we need a tool to help us trade, but it’s general use will be charity. Thank you for posting :+1:

I remember in early access on the official PvE server you actually could steal from other players. I still tend to build without window, or if I do use windows I do not put anything close to them so people cannot look into them and steal from benches that are close by. I know it’s an old habit but it’s a hard one to break. So this thread has been a little bit of a surprise that something as simple as unlocking a chest cannot even be done on these servers. More trade / community good will is always a great thing and should be supported by the devs.

Pve on private servers you can steal through windows walls occasionally work benches. It was ok originally then too much complaining so I locked everything. A charitable tables to set up at spawning points were people start in game.
