I’m looking to play SWL on steam. I remember a while back in TSW, there were PvP faction armor sets and I thought they looked badass. I have a few questions about them. Thanks in advance for your help:
Here is the armor set in question:
I read an old post from 2021 that the BASIC version of this armor set can be obtained by Patron Vanity Bags. If so, can you guys give me more info on that? Do I get it from an NPC? Can I buy it using currency ingame? Or do I need to spend real money to get it? Any information would be great!
That reinforced armor set says its for tanks. Can you now wear even if you’re not a tank?
Can you get the rank 1 - rank 5 versions? Or is that only possible from the old version TWL?
Is PvP active at all in SWL or TSW?
I looked at the population of SWL on steam and it shows 82 players peak. I understand that there’s also a seperate launcher. Is it safe to say, the total peak number is probably 3 times that numberr at 240 players daily at its peak? Just want to gauge the total player population, and not just steam.
Anyway, thanks for your help in advance guys! Looking forward to playing through SWL!
The vanity reward bags are for patrons and you can randomly get one from various types of content like dungeons or scenarios. They contain only cosmetic outfits.
You can not buy them anywhere or from any NPC separately. To get those you would need to be a patron subscriber. (That’s pretty much all I know about them)
The PVP outfits are not tied to any role. They are just cosmetic. So you can wear any of the faction ranked uniforms if you have them at any time you like. They do not change anything about your char like they used to in TSW PVP with the EFB.
I’m not sure how you get the ranked 1 - 5 PVP outfits, but they are there in the dressing room. It maybe that they came with the vanity transfer.
PVP doesn’t feature much anymore in SWL - there is only 1 battleground (Shambala) which can last less than 30 seconds and requires a bit of a push from everyone to get it going or a community event, which doesn’t happen much now either. Higher chances during anniversary or other event times. (But don’t hold your breath)
You will hear often “Steam isn’t an accurate count of players” But without an actual number then all we got is guesswork. I say you are being optimistic with the x3 count, but even with 10 players playing only - this game is worth dipping into anytime.
Hey Rizzle thanks for the reply. Here is an old post where someone was asking the same question, and they said you can get the basic pvp reinforced armor set from vanity reward bags. What is a patron and how do you get patron?
As the post you read in 2021 is correct, You obtain the basic outfit From the Patron Vanity Reward Bags which come from certain types of content when you are a paid subscriber.
The “Basic Reinforced Armour” is a drop from the “Patron Chest - Dungeon Vanity Reward Bag” item, which is itself a potential reward from the Patron’s Chest that spawns at the end of a Dungeon after defeating the final boss. You must be a Patron in order to have the Dungeon Key necessary to open the Dungeon Patron’s Chest, but it is indeed possible to acquire the Basic (Unranked) version of that uniform in Secret World Legends. The Patron Chest - Dungeon Vanity Reward Bag has a number of cosmetics on its loot table that are all quite lovely, but it’ll only ever give you an item off its table that you don’t already own, so you’ll eventually earn the Reinforced Armour no matter how good or bad your luck with those bags is!
The 3 PvP uniform types are technically the uniforms worn in-universe (and visually) when you would queue as Healer, Tank, or Damage Dealer role in a PvP Battlefield or Warzone or select said roles via PvP Equal Footing selection; however, it does not apply to Shambala (PvP) visually or the Seoul Fight Club visually. You could always obtain all 3 role uniform cosmetics on a single character regardless of role you yourself play. The Reinforced Armour is however designed with the tank in mind for the setting.
Reinforced Armour Ranks 1-5 are currently Transfer Exclusive from The Secret World, as they are not yet available in Secret World Legends. They could be purchased originally from PvP quartermasters after reaching certain Battle Ranks; PvP XP and the Battle Rank system is not yet reintroduced to Secret World Legends.
As for whether PvP is active in either game version, there are sometimes player-coordinated PvP events, but there is no active PvP community per se.
At minimum the total number of concurrent players at any given time in Secret World Legends is usually estimated at twice the number on a Steam chart. Only Funcom can say for sure how many, as nobody else has the full numbers, but the presence of a standalone launcher that many use does indeed mean that Steam Charts show fewer players than actually are online. There’s definitely a healthy and dedicated community of beautiful and lovely bees buzzing around Secret World Legends! We’re also still supported by Funcom both in forms of customer and community support
Thanks for that detailed explanation Vomher. I can’t wait to play through the whole story, I’ve always wanted to but never really did because I was playing other mmorpg. Love the unique setting and modern time period of this game. Thanks again!
