When repairing items, assuming you have the required mats, do you have to actually hit the damages part with the repair hammer, like in Atlas, or does just being close to the damaged part, work?

You need to hit the part, which can suck for out of each objects. (placing stuff bench or other object can help)
Sucks some of Purge Bosses have very wide AOE swings…and can hit parts of bases you can’t even reach. -_-’
