So far I’ve only done single player to get a feel for the game
but I’ve found on the Ps4 the game is SO BUGGY, it freezes at the most random times, it’s almost unplayable.
So is online play that much better?
is it less Buggy? will I still crash at random times? will I freeze up traveling in the middle of no where?
honestly I don’t want to spend more cash for more of the same.

No.
This is the answer for every game I know of that has both single-player and online servers. Single player is (almost) always less buggy and has fewer overall problems than single player.
In single-player, you only have to deal with the bugs that affect one person. In online multiplayer you also have to deal with bugs that are caused by the interactions between multiple people, as well as the issues caused by servers being just barely powerful enough to run a multi-player game, as well as any problems caused by network issues. So pretty much every game has more problems in online multiplayer than in single player. The only question is whether the extra problems are worth the potential benefits of playing with other players (joining tribes, trading, people sharing information, having a social experience, etc.).
No one but you can decide whether the social aspects of online play are interesting enough to make it worth dealing with extra problems, that’s a personal choice for each player.
First things first, are you running your PS4 in Performance or Quality mode? Quality mode looks great but struggles to run smoothly and switching to performance will help quite a bit.
I think online is better because the server is pulling the load where as in single player, your console is trying to do everything. The game may still crash as that is just the way of Conan. But it won’t be very often, you can easily go weeks before a crash, but it will crash at some point
Like @JamCar said. @Pipinghot is not incorrect, but when it comes to our console, the online experience is more stable.
Ps4 is surely a console that will struggle anyway, the game is too heavy for ps5 too. I don’t play Quality mode years now, i play only performance.
Prepare your self however to share a server, this is the most difficult part when playing online.
