Just started Conan on Steam and interested in mods. I know mods are not allowed on official servers, can you have an official server character AND a single player modded character at the same time? I know you have to turn on mods in a little mod window in the start menu, but does that affect ALL my save files? do i have to turn them off again before i load up my official server character? does it detect mods and not let me log into the official server? what happens exactly?, went to youtube and looked around for the answer but no one really addressed this. Thanks
You will need to disable your mods and relaunch the game to play on official.
To expand on that it will auto detect if you have mods active and will not let you connect to official servers but will give the option to restart with no mods active so you can join officials. This automagically option is what I would recommend because if you manually disable your single player mods then you have to manually re-enable them to go back to single player. Whereas if you let the game handle it then restarting is all you need to do get the mods back.
Mods can affect your single player saves but except for extensive mods you’re usually ok to start the game without them if you need to troubleshoot or whatever Though some items and/or cosmetics may be missing until the mod is re-added. However keep in mind that your mileage may vary as all mods are different.
Additionally if you’re comfortable navigating directories, copying, backing up and renaming files you can manually edit the modlist.txt file in order to save multiple mod loadouts.
Your character is saved in the database of the server you play on. Singleplayer is a simulated server but uses the same way of saving characters and map data as servers. So you will have a seperate character on every server you play on and every map you play on.
For example if you play on a Funcom server, Singleplayer Exiled Lands, Singleplayer Exiled Lands, and modded server running Savage Wilds. You’ll have four characters spread across them. If you use other maps in singleplayer like Savage Wilds, Isle of Men, or Isle of Women, they will have their own characters too.
Easiest way to do it is to use Bugle - that can keep track of different modlists for you to keep your modded singleplayer separate from your offficial server.
