Razma of Shem should be a companion for the upcoming Age of Heroes update

Yes

I wonder how much of the filesize budget each companion’s voices are gonna be taking up.

Razma of Shem ?
The player’s companion?

HAH.
Forget it.
She’s got the hots for Conan ya wishful wanker.
At best, she might follow you to the bar where Conan waits for word of her.
Obviously, he’s got the hots for Razma.
You don’t stand a chance.

Honestly, I would have picked Dalinsia or Lianeele. They’re among the most popular thralls in the game and have pretty much transcended the normal T4 thrall status. Everyone likes them and learning more about them would be interesting. That being said, there’s suppose to be more heroes in future chapters, so it’s still possible. I suspect there will likely be at least one from most factions.

i would love to see dalinsia as a hero with a story and quest line

Clam slammed in my case but uh…

On topic some of those would be great. I know they’re going to ignore Siptah, but it’d be nice to hear mad ramblings from any of the Accursed.

Conans got the hots for the princess he saved from Mek-Kamoses…

How many scantily clad women if the stories did Conan not have “the hots” for?

Also, how come they keep putting in the same place after it has been stolen from there every time. They should lock it away already.

Then it seems to me that Princess and Razma just might have a serious cat fight to see who’s going to go with Conan.
To the victor with the sharpest claws!

Quite the opposite. She has the highest ranged multiplier in the game at 2.88. Only one more NPC has the same one - Amurat; I don’t know of other similar thralls.
By the way, in my game the princess no longer appears in the bar. Maybe some mod influenced it…

Basically why playing a female is the only logical choice… likely even canon. Lol… He likely wouldn’t have save a dude hanging there, knocking of death’s door. Lol…

that would be great.

edit
Razma or Lianeele ?
I wouldn’t change even if I had the chance

Razma (a princess of Shem) could be an interesting companion as in once after you ‘free’ her from the grasp of the Witch Queen you could continue the story with her, perhaps aiding her in completing the Keystone so that she can pass through the Curse Wall and mosey on from the Exiled Lands.

And revisiting the Witch Queen dungeon with Razma as companion may now simply have different NPC in the clutches of the Witch Queen spirit. Or once you did this dungeon there is simply a different more generic boss instead of a Witch Queen since you took the mask. Maybe a Lemurian Warrior or Sorcerer, something similar to the Watcher Above, or Dagon Cultists/Fishmen from Siptah have now taken over the palace.

I also think this is a great opportunity to bring over some other interesting and unique NPCs, like an Amazon or a Vendhyan prince and follower of Asura or a Corinthian Scholar Adventurer or any of a number of those you can only find in Purges or on Siptah - how about a Karthok of the Great beast for example.

In general I think there are many T4’s that would be excellent to flesh out as companions, maybe we can even get a rogue/thief sidekick in the future, which of course now makes me think of a beast companion so that we all can have our battle cat or white wolf accompanying us through our adventures (unlike the previous ‘pets’ this one is more unique and advanced with better stats etc.)

Guess Freya will be retconned into being an Aesir Warrior instead of a Vanir Nordheimr Archer of the Heirs of the North faction? - works for me!

Dalinsia and Lianeele sure, why not, but those are already top tier thralls, maybe some others would be better suited that have gotten less attention and maybe more cultural variety perhaps - what’s always with Cimmerians, they are so overrated, give me a Zamorian Witch or a Kushite Hunter for a change.

Last i checked, Jamila had no voiced lines.
Required a whole lot of reading instead of listening to get through her dialogue.

From what this one has gathered, Thugra would be more likely than Dalinsia and Lianeele.

Freya was mentioned as already having environmental storytelling.
She has a named house, her own little camp.
She also has a guaranteed spawn.
In short, she is already something of an individual…
Heirs of the North are an okish faction, but not top tier so losing her a general recruit, when her twin sister Dina Hunt Mistress is all over the place it’s a small loss.

Making Lianeele or Dalinsia companions…

  1. They have no environmental storytelling, they are both rando spawns
  2. Removing them from the pool of acquirable thralls leaves the Mounds with no entertainer, and while there is the Cimmerian Berzerker guaranteed spawn, who else, in over world Spawns, is a named Warrior for that faction?

Now, compare to Thugra.

  1. Named spawn location with guaranteed spawn.
  2. From an extremely manky tier faction, (which has lots of other bases) won’t be missed.

Similar story for Jamilla. Honestly, a better one.
She has plenty of existing environmental storytelling, an actual story and goals (captain whatever Ishwoof having burned her hands and she wants vengeance, perfect Conan side character) and best of all, no one is going to lose out on making her a thrall, because she currently isn’t an option to enslave anyway.

This one is still pulling for Razma tho.

I like Razma enough to not want that future to her.

This companion stuff has all the makings of a disaster. And not because it is a bad idea, but because it is not a good idea that fits the game they made.

If I was one of wages, I would wage this feature will end up being “left alone”, “undeveloped” or scrapped faster than it was made into reality.

There is an old phrase we study in college: “There is no bigger waste than make efficiently and with efficacy something is not efficient or efficacious.”

There will never be “BG3 companions” in Conan Exiles. Not that BG3 ones are exquisit, efficient and efficacious. It is just that the whole game of BG3 has the ecossystem of companions. IT is not added because “someone saw elsewhere and thought it was a good idea there”, it is an integral part of the type of game, style of design, genre, etc.

To make such good work in companions on Conan Exiles, you need to change fundamental parts of the game they are not changing. They need to change fundamental parts of the gameplay they are not changing.

If you are to put companions in a sandbox game, they need to be “sandboxy” themselves. Not a companions that drags you in a story, makes you “accept or leave it”.

For this game, companions should not be added on the same style cRPG theme park games do. They should be like a thrall you train and nurture to be a companion, and go on adventures with you. A companion that fits into your base, into your gameplay, into your own narrative.

People might like it “as novelty”, but when it becomes something like even BG3 is: “Oh yes, Shadowheart, you open the pod, or not. If not you find her here, there, this other place, then you say this this this, then she says this this this, and then she goes here, there and this other place, and becomes a Dark Justiciar ,and that is that. You can kiss her sometimes if you want though.”

That will get stale quickly, specially in a game you can just “demolish all your base” and “go somewhere else play something else”. Oh, I am tired of being a desert shepard, I want to be a forest ranger. So you go East, you build a different base, change to a different setting, has a different “headcanon”, but you companion ? Ah yes, he/she is the same plain old guy who says the same things at the same pace for the same reasons, forever. They wont even remark you look different. Sure they will never do look different.

To have “special powers” or “unique development”, you might as well get some macguffin that makes your own thralls be unique. Should have spent all the work in making a system to evolve one of your thralls in to a sorcerer of special powers that is so work intensive to do you probably will do it only once, but it is a thrall. It is according to the game.

So when you speak with her (or more accurately, hear her speaking with you), whos voice lines she is using ?

You made me check, but yes Jamila speaks.

Another NPC that could be made into a companion is Gilzan, treasure hunter and man of fortune. His original purpose was to introduce the old purge. His lines sort of fit the new purge, but should speak about the invaders to fit.

Capture a cimmerian berserker female, equip medium armor and rename her Razma. Problem solved
