The purge was super messed up with the chapter 3 sorcery update. A lot of people had issues with it. It would crash and I almost lost all my stuff, including legacy items from server transfers. However, I typically dodge the purge as I don’t like my stuff messed up. That’s why I said
Lol… but seriously though… you should build with the purge in mind if you plan to face it. A box base on PvE is just lazy and should be done only as a placeholder or small starter base you plan to tear down and rebuild appropriately. That’s my opinion. I know others will disagree, but I like to admire unique builds. Too many haphazardly built designs and box bases make official servers a horrible experience. Noobs see them from “experienced” players and they emulate it. I’ve seen this on multiple servers. the server @Coyote0903 and I are on has them less often from veterans and you see the difference as newer players that stay a while often rebuild nicer. Not always, but often. Meanwhile other servers it’s all you see for the most part. Coyote’s base is by no means a box base in the slightest, yet he loves the purges and builds almost solely for getting them. It can be done, but people choose not to oftentimes.
Exactly. And, based on my own experience, I came to the conclusion that the least purge bugs happen when you build a square base.
I built this city shortly before June 22, in order to withstand the siege of the Stygians. It is protected by 50 leveled warriors. In the center is an altar with a treasury. There was not a single bug with purge. Where did they come from? From everywhere, exept King Scorpion`s direction. Even descended from the surrounding hills.
I like to build more organically, creatively, and often realistically. True square bases make it difficult to build in such a fashion. However, with a proper wall, you can make a reasonable village within the perimeters. That being said, it’s no longer a “box base.” It’s a square base. Completely different. You know what a box base looks like… which is what I was talking about. Regardless, I digress… we got off topic a bit here.
What men? LMAO
I remember glancing at a post in this thread where “all” characters were played as …
dare I speak out of gender correctness …
Feminine Gender.
Except me. I’m always the masculine gender.
Chew on that.
A box in a broad sense is always understood as a rectangular structure with walls.
I never understood why this is bad, since the very presence of rectangular foundations is pushing for this.
Well, purge problems, as already mentioned above.
I would love to build perfect round towers if it were possible.
That’s why what you described is NOT a box base. You’re missing the point. By that definition, anything within a rectangular/square wall is a box base. You can make some amazing builds WITHIN that space. A “box base” by what we describe here is and always is a box as a box is understood. A square or rectangular base with tall (or short) walls, topped off with ceilings cover it. THAT is a box base. Are square/rectangular bases uninspired? Sometimes. Always? No.
Certainly. But when you walk through the territory and see square buildings with walls everywhere, you immediately say: “Ugh, these are nasty nasty boxes,” without knowing what is inside, and without asking the owners to show you the interior decoration of their bases. Therefore, a box, in a general sense, is a square or rectangular base with walls, as I wrote above.
True, but that’s also assuming they have an unnecessarily high wall… which is as I’ve said, unnecessary. You don’t need a wall more than 2 walls high to protect from a purge… now that may change with the new purge. In which case, gross.
