Resource Gathering Thralls

I would love to see the ability to have thralls collect resources, mining, logging, etc. As someone who doesn’t have the time to play constantly the ability to set up thralls to do these tasks would be great. I’m sure there is probably a mod for this but I don’t play PC. We have thralls craft stuff, fight, why not resource gathering? What is the point in having slaves if they won’t do the most tedious of in game tasks? To implement this they could have gathering stations that need to be manned by a task master and then thralls assigned to that station. Each station could be set to stone, iron, coal, lumber as a way of directing the thralls on what resource to gather. These stations could have different tiers like wheels of pain where you could only assign say 3/7/10 thralls to each station. For clans with smaller numbers or just single players this would really give them a boost to create some incredible bases.

You can use golems to gather stuff…and lag servers even more :smiley:

Oh I feel you, today officials are unplayable, even stamina bar isn’t working properly.

Yes I tried playing on a official server the other day and it was brutal, it was my first time on a next gen console and I couldn’t believe it. I got a private server and haven’t had any issues thankfully.

Performance aside, no one feels it’s stupid that golems can harvest resources while thralls cannot ?

Thralls, that are your slaves, just stay there and look at you (their king) mine stones with a pickaxe :rofl:

Then you have to build giant men of stone/iron/crystal to mine stones because your slaves don’t want to :rofl:

Moreover, you don’t need to invent anything, the movesets already exist, you need to take them from the golems, speed up the movements by 2 times - and here you have a new placeable thrall, a worker. Make him as strong as a bearer, so that he doesn’t compete with the fighters, and that’s all.

If you ask me, I wouldn’t even create a new type of Thrall, I’d rather simply adapt Bearers so they can harvest/mine too.

I will even go that far, as to propose to remove golems from the game - either they are performance friendly, either they aren’t lore accurate.

They aren’t inaccurate to the lore - The Devil in Iron featured something that is arguably a sort of golem as the antagonist.

That said they should be terrifying monsters, not civil servants.

We already got Golems that can harvest, and also lag servers, we definitely not need another automated thing to lag servers, so a gigantic no from me :grin:

If it did not lag servers, and if it worked properly (because Golem Harvesting is kinda :poop: right now), would you be fine with it?

Personally I don’t like them for 2 reasons, they lag servers and I feel they aren’t doing any good for the gameplay, I know we already have passive things in the game, but they are mostly doing their thing in our base, I guess that I am pretty much fed up with seeing golems everywhere in the good harvesting spots… Would I be fine with them if they didn’t tax servers?
I dunno, I simply just don’t like them because players mass spam them everywhere, but it is not really up to me if they should be here or not :slight_smile:

I play Conan 3 years now and from the first day I was shocked that the Thrall is the badass while player is the errand boy who brings wood from the forest and such…

It should be the other way round Funcom! We capture them with truncheons and bind them with ropes. But the actual slavery is limited to the wheel of pain animation…
Make the Thralls work their ass off instead of just standing there doing nothing :rofl:

On servers it would add an extra element if these gathering stations and gathering thrawls could be raided. It would force clans to have to protect them and if they over extended their supply gathering networks they would be easy prey to other clans and players and would prevent one clan from just placing them at every good location, they would have to be able to defend them.

Golems should be monsters, fighters with great strenght/resistance but with some drawback like the fact they can’t auto-heal or they have limited energy and should be “recharged” every … don’t know, 24 hours ?

The fact they can harvest resources is the biggest bull*hit I’ve ever seen.
That, along with the fact that Thralls cannot is like … dumb ? to say the least …

The ones that should be able to work cannot work.
The ones that shouldn’t be able to … can do it.

@Frillen the fact that people mass spawn them is not the problem … people having servants that harvest resources for them is normal (or SHOULD be normal). What isn’t normal is players doing it while Thralls watch.

Problem is that Golems are the most wrong thing to make harvest tasks … it doesn’t make any sense.

THRALLS should be the ones mining nodes, harvesting tree etc …

This. We command a small army, build castles, have treasures… but, hold on, w8 a min, it still falls upon the efing commander to go chopping wood and mine stones. It’s ridiculous. We should have a settlement system after lvl 60 or something of the sort. We should unblock it after we unblock master building or having more than x thralls, some end game feat that would allow us to allocate thralls to resource farming. Rare stuff, we could still get ourselves, but wood, iron, stone, coal, etc, that should be automated after some point.

Yes we should be able to place them, and there should be resource gathering menu just like it is for combat - gather resources in set radius and the thrall should be doing that even when the player is offline, eventually defending himself when attacked or some mob spawns.

Idealy we should be able to send them in groups. 2 fighters, 2 gatherers.
We’ll never have anything like that, unfortunately.
