I tried running Klael’s Stronghold.
Arena Champion absolutely wrecked my lvl 18 Dalinsia in like 3 hits, and killed me.
My horse returned home fine… but Dalinsia said she was also returning home… then was just gone from my follower list. Nothing on event list… until 10 mins later where it said all her stuff was gone via “lootbags”. No mention her dying. No mention of her at all. That was her first and only knockdown!
Why did she die? I thought returning home meant she was doing just that. Why did the horse make it back fine, but Dalinsia dies? All that stuff gone… a week spent training her wasted.
When your follower gets downed, you have x minutes to rescue the thrall, by interacting with them.
If you get killed, too, you have to run back to wherever your thrall got downed ASAP and try to reach the thrall within that time limit.
Else, the thrall will die, even if you’re far away. The boss (or whatever downed it) doesn’t even have to do anything to kill the thrall, they just bleed out.
The Arena Champion is best faced without thralls. Let her attack first, but keep away from her when she starts her routine. When she’s lockded in animation and attacking in a different direction, use a mace or axe to knock her down, e. g.: light, light, light, heavy, than recover stamina until she gets up, repeat light, light, light, heavy and so on.
If you have a poisoned weapon, that helps to bring down her health quite quickly, e. g. the Festering One. Pretty much any mace or axe works, though.
One can practice that routine on other human enemies beforehand, e. g. with a simple stone mace to simulate her high health/armor.
Thralls can defeat her, but it’s very risky. In my experience, it’s often more difficult than solo’ing her if you have thralls to “help” you, because they create chaos, mess up her positioning and so on.
If you have very strong thralls, equip them with spears or do some other creative stuff, they are net positive, though.
Thrall needs to be rescued by the player in time or will die.
Personally I use a war party of two Black Corsair Elite (10k HP) with Feroxic hammers (poison and 50+ armor penetration), they wreck the Arena Champion. I jump in and give her a few poisons with a Feroxic great sword if I feel adventurous, otherwise I can just stand and watch. She has a lot of armor but low health, the poison and 50+ armor penetration wrecks her.
The reason I didn’t think that was the case was because it said it was returning home. Otherwise I would have run back in. But the stuff in the entrance respawned, so I just removed bracelet and recalled my body.
Why say returning home if it just stays there and dies after me not saving her??? That’s just the game lying imo
Yea the problem in that dungeon is when you die, you lose the keys and can’t get back to the arena champ unless you have a spare set in a chest outside the dungeon. Even then, there will be spawns and standing at the doors waiting for them to open often gets you killed.
I think she died returning home, the rescue timer is far less then the returning home timer. Think of it as she died from her wounds trying to crawl home.
What seems to be happening is that the thrall is technically returning home but the time required is greater than the time it takes them to bleed out and die if not revived.
I have in the past seen a downed thrall return home and be revived at their guard point but that was a long time ago in UE4 so things may have changed and/or bleed out time may vary per thrall.
From the test server notes the follower list will be changed, possibly in the next patch, to show when thralls are downed.
