Another player and I had an idea about resurrecting thralls when they’ve met an untimely demise. Instead of having to train another thrall to replace a lost favorite, or what have you, how about a potion you’d put into their corpse’s inventory and activate it like you would any other food/potion item to resurrect them? Upon rez they would be transported back to their player’s base to recover. Of course, there would be a resurrection penalty.
Some of the possibilities we thought of is rez sickness where they’d uncontrollably stop whatever it is they are doing and vomit at random times for a duration of the cool down. So if they are in the middle of combat they would stop fighting and start displaying their recent meal for all to see but that would make them vulnerable to another death in which case they could not be resurrected again since they died during their cooldown. Now if they had made it through the cd then they can be resurrected again. Another thought is that the thrall in question would be unusable for a duration as they would need to recover from rez sickness. In either case we thought 24 hrs would be fair however, having a bed/s specifically for thralls that you can put them in would reduce the cd and speed up their recovery. Perhaps the Stygian War Doctor Bed could be repurposed for such since it is for injured soldiers.
The other player suggested the potion could be named after us - DomiVal’s Kiss or DomiVal’s Mercy. If this mechanic comes to pass however, I know that wouldn’t be Conan canon and I’m sure the devs would have thought of a name. What do you think?
They’re working on Down but not out, which should allow you to revive a thrall.
From what I understand thralls are getting another rework in general for those changes. (At least something like that was vaguely mentioned by one of the managers in another thread.)
Exactly this. Reviving thralls is on the table about a year now, Dennis said that we ain’t going to see it in age of war but definitely in the future. Like @Dark_Overlord posted it’s close and that’s wonderful news. Yet nothing about server transfers, that they promised 2 years ago .
If I recall correctly “down but not out” would not revive a dead thrall or pet.
Instead it will introduce a “knocked out” state or a “bleed” state before the thrall / pets death.
A grace period for the player to heal the minion before the actual loss.
Keeping it simple is probably good game design. The fewer bells and whistles, the fewer chances of something going wrong.
I would’ve preferred a “first aid” solution over a rallying cry, because it would make more sense, immersion-wise. Revival via encouragement feels more like anime (“Get up, Lloyd! I believe in you!”) than a grim-and-gritty survival game. That said, resurrection (as in, actually bringing a dead person back to life) would be against the Hyborian Age lore.
Added a similar feature months ago, for humanoid thralls, but I have never had time to develop it further…
Practice cardiopulmonary rescusitation on your thralls when their level of stress goes subzero
This level of stress is affected by the way you treat them (insults, compliments, frequency of combat, etc.)
